Rest stops as a rule, i think, don't have security of any kind. There are California Highway Patrol that regularly stop here. To be safe, try to find the maintenance staff that clean in and around the area. The truck drivers that stop here tend to be protective of rest stops, because they tend to come to the areas to rest and sleep overnight. Talk to them if you really need help as they have means of communicating immediate and pressing emergency situations to the proper authorities.

There are workers and janitors always and if there was reported problems the chp may have undercover people there
