Most rest areas in California have that sign, so while the signs are accurate (rattlesnakes live throughout most of California, so you could put that sign anywhere lol) , they are not there because of a specific unusual danger at that location. It is basically a reminder for city folks that they aren't in a city park anymore lol So, just like any time you are in the country, just watch where you are walking, but don't be paranoid.
I'm sure you'll be fine. I'm almost positive the warning comes as a liability release from management. But whenever you're in nature is always a good idea to be aware of your surroundings.
Yes in the spring and summer
I haven't seen any
Rare even in Spring. They usually avoid people unless you happen to stumble upon their nesting area.
Not really i haven't seen any when I've been there but I would be careful don't go wondering off pass the truck parking though.
I've not seen any, the few times I've been through the area, but I'm sure there is good reason for the warning sign(s). Likely nothing to be overly concerned about, but good to be aware of.
Winter. They are all Hibernating. Yes I saw the sign also ...I didn't see any snakes tho
