Herbert S. Miles Safety Rest Area is a nice, clean, rest area along Interstate 5 near Red Bluff, California. The rest area has plenty of parking, sidewalks for walking, pet exercise areas, green grass, and picnic tables for your enjoyment. If you find my review helpful, please give me a thumbs-up ๐Ÿ‘ Thank you!

I really needed to get off the road, my eyes wanted to close. There was one spot left for a truck towing a car hauler. It was so peaceful I slept longer than intended! But I needed it. Felt safe and after waking I saw it was a beautiful area too.

Great stop on the drive. Easy access from the freeway. Restroom were very clean. Good signage to read while you stretch. They have some benches available to sit on or picnic tables for a meal. Water fountain is available too.

I noticed there is a posted warning about rattlesnakes. Is there alot of rattlesnake sightings here?

Most rest areas in California have that sign, so while the signs are accurate (rattlesnakes live throughout most of California, so you could put that sign anywhere lol) , they are not there because of a specific unusual danger at that location. It is basically a reminder for city folks that they aren't in a city park anymore lol So, just like any time you are in the country, just watch where you are walking, but don't be paranoid.
