Rent for now.
Rent, rent, rent for now!!
Though I STRONGLY suggest waiting a few more years... Helmet, skis that come up to the bottom of his nose, poles, ski boots with very very thick socks (the thick socks and the ski boots help prevent from legs and ankles getting broken, also make sure the bindings are TIGHT), snow pants, gloves, ski jacket, goggles, hat, and a can do attitude. If you yourself are a inexpierenced skier, I STRONGLY recommend seeing if there is a trainer at alpine. There used to be some, but I am not sure if they offer classes anymore. Hope this helps!
I would recommend calling them.
