Every vehicle needs a "Recreation Passport" to enter any Michigan state park, even for just a short visit. Ideally, get it when you renew your tags. Otherwise, for instate residents, it will cost you $16 or $18 at the park. That will give you entry until you tags expire. The state parks give no discounts for entry or camping for any reason.

Free to enter if you have your state recreation pass, which is a $10 or $11 addition at the time of your plate renewal.

16$ at the gate for the passport that expires same time as your plate and then when you renew next time it is only 11$ but you can launch a boat at no extra fees
