Almost all IKEA furniture is mostly made of pressed wood coated with laminate. Most of it is already sealed, and a lot of the off-gassing has already happened during shipping. Plus they use low VOC paints and varnishes.
They have both depends on price.
Good quality for the price. And there is a new place in indy too.
They have both. It just depends on what you are looking at. I hope think B Ryan offered the perfect answer.
It depends on what you get. Their higher priced lines (like Hemnes) are mostly solid pine (for the structural components and exterior), but have some pressed parts (like the bottoms of drawers). Their lower cost lines are mostly pressed board with veneer on the exterior.
Some of their furniture is solid wood, but much if it is processed. It seems IKEA is a very environmentally conscious company and takes care in the process. I'm sure however, an associate at the store will be able to help you out with that information. At the very least you could check their website to find out as much as possible to answer your question before you go in. They may actually have that type of data on their website in their FAQ section.
Even though it is a processed wood, IKEA taken care of all those aging processes. Hope it doesn't required..
