Some of the more dangerous climbs, like Angels landing, get even riskier with compacted snow and ice. Other than that, there are much smaller crowds, so a joy to not be so packed all the time. Pluses and minuses.
Yes it is.
Very Cold
Going to the parks during the winter season allows you to see the beauty of the scenery in a while new light that most people will never experience. Seeing the Three Patriarchs peak through clouds with snow covered ledges is awe inspiring. I would also recommend seeing Zions while it's raining, simply amazing!
I don't think I would attempt Angel's landing if there is any snow and definitely not ice.
I was just there last weekend and the weather was great. Definitely still should watch for ice in shady locations and at higher elevations.
I was there in Sunday18 of this month ❄
It would be beautiful to see the snow capped mountains and terrain but not sure about hiking.
The roads can be icy and it'll be cold. Layer up and you will enjoy lighter crowds!
My favorite time of year to visit is during the winter when there aren't many crowds. However, the hikes and trails could be treacherous with snow and ice.
