The basic interior design promotes a louder than usual noise level. There is nothing "soft" in a Cracker Barrel interior to absorb the sound. It's worse at peak times because everyone is talking louder so they can be heard over all the ambient sound. Add some music to the mix and it can be nearly impossible to carry on a conversation. I'm not sure I would leave after ordering...perhaps asking for a different table.... seems rude to leave after ordering and them trying 4 times to comply...just say'in...
You should have just asked. It's the first thing I do, when I get seated. The first time it occured, they turned it down 4 times, but just barely each time, so that it remained pretty loud. When I asked again, I was told no and promptly got up and left, leaving my just delivered meal sitting there. Long story, short, after speaking with corporate, it is always turned down sufficiently when I ask now.
Hmmm I ate breakfast there this am . Food was fine, music, you could barely hear it. It was at 10:30 so not so crowded, but good. Friendly service. The sausage was overcooked, but when I asked to have it replaced, it came out in less than 2 min. With an apology from cook.
You could also ask the manager to have people talk quieter. That might help too.
They will turn it down if you ask. When there are more people, the background noise increases. They are very accommodating.
I agree, it is always crowed which makes the need to speak louder to be heard. Now on top of that add loud music. ..Makes no sense
