so do you just walk in the the building and look around?

There are two gardens, a nature center from 10a-5p with exhibits, a small farm area and 100 acres of gorgeous grounds to walk, play or picnic

There is a mansion but also a small zoo, a waterfall and a beautiful Japanese garden at the park.

There is a nature center you can check out too.

The mansion has guided tours that are worth the time. Outside there are various garden areas ,(ex. The Japanese garden) and animal enclosures (ex. Bears, raptors, bison, deer). There is also a good nature center and a farm animals area. Excellent with kids. Lots of open areas. Sometimes there is a musical event. Be sure to visit.

There are parts of the mansion that you can just walk around in. I highly recommend taking the tour (donations). Great information on the history of the era.
