My screen went black on my iPad this morning.. been playing it. Put it down when I picked it back up black screen?? Any ideas

I actually have the iPad 2 mini. Would this process be the same for it?

Battery dead? Turn it totally off and re-start? Google says:"Learn what to do if your iPad Pro doesn't respond when you press buttons or tap on the screen, and the screen is black," Apple's message reads.
