No. You need to book the tour in order to get on the boat that takes you to the island. You are not allowed to dock your own boat.
The only way to visit the island is by making an advanced booking with the trust association the conducts guided tours. Booking fees include ferrying to and from the island as well as the tour.
The tour is really the best idea. They are friendly and knowledgable. Plus parts of the island are still unsafe from all the previous damage.
