They represent the miners... I suppose they could use real people for stand ins. Would you like to volunteer? Lol
They are there to provide a true historically accurate account of the conditions under which coal mining would have been conducted since it's discovery. The guides cover quite a bit and do discuss the use of animals as well as different levels or areas in a mine. They strive for accuracy. If you have any questions, suggestions concerning the mine or train tour I suggest you contact someone in the office or the guides themselves. It's meant to be an educational experience. The guides are certified miners with years of experience and the mine is inspected daily. All upgrades or other needed work performed off season when tour is closed, inspected before reopening.
They there to give visitors a better idea of how coal was extracted. Question: do those animal and people's in the natural history museum creeping you more?
I need an unhelpful button 😢
Because they're cheap labor lol
