Although the boats aren't huge we had a great time. We had My buddy, his wife, their daughter, my 5 year old, my 18 y/o exchange student, and myself. There was enough room for all that and for us to catch 15 crabs in about an hour. My buddy and I are planning on going again this coming September.
Hi Jackie - the boats have a 750 lb weight limit - usually 4-5 adults depending on the size of everyone 😄 June is typically the start of the molting season, they shed their shells in order to grow bigger. You catch more crabs, some of them not as full of meat, but still very tasty!! September and October are the two best months for SPORT crabbing - full shells, no rain to muddy the river AND , most importantly- the commercial season in the ocean is closed (reopens December 1st.)
The boats are not huge. And I do not know the answer for sure but last time I was there I seen a family of 4 and I'd say 4 maybe 5 would be the most if its 2 adults and 3 kids
Hi Jackie..my understanding is any month with an R in it is good for crabbing..so no to june.. But renting a boat is so fun and you can buy Alaska (?) Crab from kellys fresh and they treat us all so great! Go have fun!tge reason why is colder fall and winter months ensure firm meat ans shells..the other months they are either breeding or shedfing their shells..but call Kelly's..they have all the info..sorry..broke my arm and still cant type! Fyi..drop family off at the beach and go to the spa in manzinita!
