Been happening like that for years, no one seems to care, unfortunately. I've driven over 200 miles several times only to not get a campsite there on a weekday, not fair at all! Ended up on the asphalt camping. So the answer is No, but Yes I guess!! Not enforced the last time I was there or ever.
When we were there, several people brought their trailers up a day early and left them unoccupied overnight. I don't think it's specifically "allowed," but nothing was said. I don't think leaving a car there overnight would fly, though.
