I am curious about what happens when exotic critters are returned and what happens with the sick animals? I have seen that some pet stores will euthanize for imperfections such as a cataract.

What Marissa said. Normally the only returns we get are small animals, like hamsters, guinea pigs, etc. They normally have simple respiratory infections, which the vet gives us medication for, and we treat them for about three months until they heal completely. It's very rare that someone will return a reptile.

All sick animals are taken to the vet and then treated in-store in an isolation room. We dont euthenize animals at the store and any "imperfect" animals that arent medically ill are adopted out, usually by associates.
