No idea about the room part, we stayed overnight, but we did find out we could have gotten the passes earlier then noon. The attendant said we could have gotten the passes when we got in town but the room wouldn't be available at the latest 4.
You have to be a guest. You can get in the day of your check in around 1pm and stay in the pool until close the day you check out.
