Yes, there are trees, fields and water, definitely has snakes. I saw a snake skin when I was there as well.
There are always snakes. They are indigenous. I've seen two black snakes, and a striped green snake on the path in the last year. I live within a half of a mile, in Shenandoah retreat. We have copperheads here as well. As long as you stay alert and keep your attention focused on where you are walking, snakes should not be a problem. However in Shenandoah Retreat Community now we have a lot of bear sightings, so stay alert.
I ran across a copperhead in the rocks in late spring, going up the steep inclines on the North side of the loop. That's the only snake I've seen out there in about fifty visits. Take it FWIW.

I've never seen one but it is prime habitat for them.
