Bittersweet review. Dr. Reuven is the BEST. READ ALL THE WAY THROUGH : About a month ago I had to have a tooth extracted. they numbed me and attempted to “wiggle” the tooth loose, which just translated to them trying to rip my tooth out and loosening he ones around it. after that didn’t work they had to cut it out, with an electric saw. the whole experience left me literally traumatized. after they finally cut it out they gave me zero after care, zero pain meds, and handed me a baggy full of gauze and said to change it in thirty minutes. they did not tell me ANY care instructions, which lead me to getting dry socket and my pain didn’t go away until three weeks later, which now i have a growth that i have to get cut off because it healed wrong (because they gave me zero care instructions.) there are no rooms, only doorless stalls. it’s sad that when you’re poor you’re treated less than animals. at least animals get their own kennels. truly traumatic in every sense. today i went for a cleaning, and instead the dentist had to poke around just to assess how to do cleaning. from the moment i walked in he was kind and made me feel comfortable. without asking he told me he would be showing me a diagram and explaining what he would be doing. he did so very comprehensively. after explaining he poked around and explained what care i would need, how he would do it, and what to expect. he also specifically made my appointments so i would have him for all four cleaning sessions. i thanked him profusely, in my four visits there he was the only good dentist. the others were anywhere from horrible, to dismissive, to fully checked out. I believe his name is Dr. Rueven. he’s truly incredible and probably the best dentist i’ve ever had so far. poverty sucks and it really sucks to be treated like cattle, but at least there’s one good person in the endless stalls of horrible people.

<3 IF ITS GOOD FOR YOU: BE BRAVE <3 In the past Ive been so scared of needles and clinical settings that Ive avoided necessary medical procedures like going to the dentist. Last year I avoided getting the deep clean I needed as the bedside manner of the Dr I had was really aggressive. That being said, my teeth hurt, so I decided to go back. I was cared for by ANNA when I first came in who did my assessment and who was wonderful and kind. The mean doctor had been let go! and I got DR.DOLATA instead. He is the sweetest, best dentist ever!!! Im even thinking of having my silver fillings replaced by him (needles!) cause I trust him THAT MUCH. I was given a prescription mouthwash which Medicaid covered and I picked it up at the pharmacy in the lobby! How easy is that??? My deep cleaning was done by DEBRA who got me through some painful, scrapey-uncomfortable stuff as best she could. SHE'S THE ONE YOU WANT IF YOURE DOING A DEEP CLEAN AND YOU ARE A WEANIE. I have my fourth dentist appointment (this week!) tomorrow morning and then another two? at the end of the month. Im more relaxed every time I go in there and my gums and teeth look noticeable better. I truly feel that if it werent for this team helping me I wouldnt be able to do this. I really think I did something right in my past to deserve them. This building follows Covid 19 guidelines, there is a restroom, you can wear your headphones during a dental procedure. (I suggest this!).

I was referred here from East county. I’ve been calling everyday for the past three days trying to schedule an appointment for myself because I never got a call to make the appointment like I was told I would, and every time I call I’m told that the dentist needs to review my chart and that I’ll get a call back. I’ve been told that the dentist is out of his office, he doesn’t work that day, etc. I understand it’s a public health office, but it shouldn’t take a hard time to schedule an appointment. I’ll change my rating IF I can schedule something and that goes well, but who knows.

If you call, you will be on hold for at least 30 minutes. This is the most chaotic and disorganized unprofessional dental office I have ever stepped foot inside. The dentists are fine. The front desk staff and management is a joke.

I assume you mean a dental x-ray. Yes, but usually part of a full exam.
