We definitely picked this Hampton location vs others in Lexington based on price (including Marriott’s) of both room rate and pet fee. Coming north on I-75 and getting into town at 5:30p traffic was a nightmare and took a good 30 minutes from the interstate. We were greeted by a very nice young lady and check- in was fast. We found the same ancient and tiny room referenced by a previous guest. For two people and a dog we were stepping all over each other in the 2 queen room, and it was a feat to close the bathroom door if you were actually in it - remodeling isn’t likely to fix that. At first glance the room looked old but clean, but then the dog found stuff on the floor to try and eat, and going over surfaces (nightstand, bathroom counter, desk) with our Clorox wipes we found they had dried up stuff on them. Ugh. There are pictures taped on the wall of the hallway of what may be future upgrades, but until that happens I would not return to or recommend this location. There are 3 other hotels across the parking lot… pick one of those not the closet filled with furniture from your grandparents garage. Sorry HI.

Someone used a key card to break into room and steal my belongings. There were no cameras in the the hotel to help police prove who entered room so difficult to prosecute suspects.

We were traveling for a high school sporting event – we are coaches for our local high school swim team – and we stayed at the Hampton Inn Lexington South – Keeneland/Airport (3060 Lakecrest Circle, Lexington, KY 40513). We left our room (309) around 6:45 that morning to go eat breakfast and came back around 7:15. Within the 30 minutes that we were gone, our room had been broken into – or rather, someone just let themselves in. Our bags had been gone through and our personal items had been moved and tossed around the room – some personal items were even stolen. The head coach ran down to the front desk to get help from the front desk worker. I personally do not remember his name – she might – but I can tell you that he was less than helpful. He was Caucasian, younger (maybe late 20’s/early 30’s), dirty blonde hair and maybe around 6’5”. He said he had just arrived to work at 7am when they did a shift change and the only other worker there at the time was the older woman who was working the breakfast bar. The head coach - or the front desk worker - called Lexington police, which arrived at the hotel about 20 minutes later. The head coach asked the front desk worker if there were any cameras that he could check and he said the only cameras that they had were in the front lobby – unacceptable. Cameras should be at every entrance (or exit) to the facility and especially down the halls and by the elevators. We went through an entire process with the Lexington officer who was very accommodating and helpful – the hotel staff was not. The front desk worker and the manager (who showed up around 8am) – she was a younger Caucasian female in her 20’s or 30’s – both said that we probably did not shut our door all the way. That statement is completely absurd and it baffles me that that was their only response, especially since they could tell how upset we were. Hotel room doors do not shut lightly – everyone knows that you basically have to move out of the way so you don’t get slammed while trying to leave your room. The female manager also later stated that the “camera” in the front desk area was simply a baby monitor and not an actual camera – you have got to be kidding me. Why did the male front desk worker think the hotel had one camera in the lobby but then it was a BABY MONITOR?! Your staff should be aware of what is in the facility they are employed at. I also want to note that when we checked out of the hotel the only thing that your female manager said to us was that our check from the high school went through properly and that the credit card on file would not be charged. Personally, I think that the room should be refunded completely because hotels should have multiple procedures and safety measures in place to make sure that people feel safe inside and outside of their room. I hope the individual who came in and stole our belongings isn’t crazy enough to bring a gun in next time because I don’t think a baby monitor would be able to catch that. This hotel is a complete joke and not safe by any means. My biggest question besides why is there a lack of surveillance is why is it so easy for someone to be able to get into another individual’s room? We did not leave the door open or cracked or slightly open, so why was someone able to acquire a room key to get into our room? I am honestly so disgusted about how we were treated at this facility because your two workers seemed to not even believe us. I don’t travel to get my belongings stolen – as I’m sure no one else does.

There is no pool. There is no mention of this on the website and we were not told at check-in. A check-in that took 20 minutes. The beds are also extremely hard. I asked to speak to the Manager because we only chose this hotel for the pool and was told someone would call and have yet to receive a call or even an apology. I would recommend a hotel that cares about customer service.
