Fantastic area for birding and just being out in a natural environment. I understand that much of this area has been reclaimed and restored. This is a fantastic example of what can be done.

Trails with a variety of plants and wildlife. Trail surfaces dirt, gravel and mowed grasses. Trail maintenance could be improved. Free paved parking. Outhouses available.

Nice little area for an evening stroll or a flat easy hike, total trails in the area are about 4 miles if you complete all the loops. Very close to Hillsboro. Lots of birds chirping and blossoms. Only saw a few people, most were wearing masks (some weren't, so please wear a mask and follow social distancing).

Once you get about half a mile from the parking area, the noises from passing cars fade away and you're able to best observe the natural beauty of the Jackson Bottom Wetlands. Trails are a mix of rocks, bark chips, and pavement, though paved walkways are primarily only around the main building.

Dogs are no allowed at all on the trails. I didn't see anything that said no fishing but I would assume you aren't allowed to fish.
