I’m convinced that good customer service is a thing of the past. Employees had attitudes, looked like we were inconveniencing them, and one of the employees making my salad wouldn’t even speak. I asked if they had lime and she shakes her head no. My bf asked for extra chicken in his burrito and the employee who made his burrito yells up to the cashier saying, “he got extra chicken! Don’t forget!” The soda (coke) was so syrupy that we couldn’t even drink it…and why is there always gnats/fruit flies flying all around Cafe Rio’s? This isn’t even the first one we’ve been to where the gnats/fruit flies are all over the place.

It was alright. I got the sweet pork salad and was thrown off by how different the portions were compared to what I was used to. In the past the salad is around 30% meat to 70% salad, but this time it was closer to 10% meat 90% salad. (this is just my opinion on the salad, the service itself was good and the taste of it all was also good. The portions themselves just seemed askew compared to other locations I've been to, with a lot less meat and a lot more lettuce and rice)

Excellent food at some of the best prices. I recommend the burrito enchilada style with sweet pork and red sauce. The sauce is not too spicy.

My students recommended Cafe Rio in Germantown a while back, so when one opened in Rockville I decided to give it a try. We ordered the “Saturday Special” which was shrimp tacos (made them coconut shrimp) and a steak quesadilla. All adult portions, and I told the server to put everything on it. I didn’t order any drinks, went with waters. Came out under $20. I split it with my two kids. It was enough food but not as much as I expected from the pictures on their menu board. I wanted more salad or greens. My mom ordered tres leches dessert and it was fine, but a bit too sweet for my taste. She had been here for the opening and was a bit disappointed this second time around. The horchata is not authentic, taste more like sugary milk. But the Te de Jamaica was good. Overall, I would give them another try. However, I still like Baja Fresh better for their portions and taste. I do have to say Cafe Rio does have more variety though.
