The British owner was hella friendly and nice. The other employees weren’t very friendly and rather cold. Biggest grievance with them is that my bicycle needed a repair and I was quoted anywhere from $120 for a temporary fix or $550 for a permanent fix for my bike. I took my bike to a competitor who fixed it for $50 total and it works just fine after the repair. To be clear, my bike needed just the gear shift realigned. Just be wary that they’re first and foremost a bike parts shop and not a repair shop. Customer service is hit or miss (I’m not expecting like “service with a smile” but some verisimilitude would be nice). I’ll keep coming back for like small things, like a bike pump or a new tube, etc, but I don’t recommend coming there for a repair.

The staff is both friendly and informative, but also went out of their way to help me when my new bike got its first flat. Thoughtful about the (relatively short) line, the mechanic Billy had stepped up to work the counter. After I explained my problem, another staff member (owner of Stan the cat who was an honored guest today) kindly asked me if he could hand me over to Billy who readily grabbed my tire and walked me through a quick choice. Billy had Mt old tube out in less than a minute--I had tried for several hours to get this stubborn one off! The shop rung me up, fixed my flat, and had me back on the road in minutes. Thanks guys! Great shop inventory as well as awesome staff!

Norm Swygert

Universal has become my go-to shop for their great selection of products, knowledgeable sales people –and perhaps most of all– for the excellent service staff. These guys have handled a number of repairs and upgrades on several of my bikes over the past several years. The bikes always come back in perfect running order and the mechanics are nice in taking time to explain any details of the work that I'm interested in. It's great that they have a website and can get parts from their other locations quickly. Just a very well-rounded group of people providing great products and services.

Maximus The French Bulldog

Tried to order a couple of hubs from this shop. They said that they couldn’t ship me the hubs as the shipping and billing do not match. They blame the credit card company but I have never had an issue doing this before. The person was like ah the state where you are shipping is far from the billing address. They did offer to reorder using paypal but seems like a hassle all the way around. If you’re going to play in the e-commerce space you’re going to have make your process better.
