Brenda was friendly, courteous, and helpful. She kindly helped us to renew Annie’s license and get a replacement for a lost tag. Brenda efficiently and quickly processed the paperwork and we were out within minutes. Thank you Brenda for your great customer service!

I found a dog, tried all day to find owners called multiple vet offices with name and a phone number on the tag. Posted on next door, pawboost, fb, tons of lost and found sites... I finally called ccds for next steps. They wanted me to surrender him while they looked for owners and I was told he would be rehomed in 5 days. I didnt feel the need for the dog to be locked in a kennel overnight so I declined surrendering him to give it a little more time on my own. An employee took it upon themselves to state on social media community pages that I had chose to not find owners and they wanted any Information on the dog to find the owners. That lead to me receiving multiple threats of bodily harm, and property damage if I didn't return the dog. I was literally driving gro. The vets office to scan for a chip and was going door to door looking for owners AND working with an employee while they researched the Information I had given them on my original phone call. So thanks, because I was trying g to do what was best for a lost dog, my reward was being treated with bodily harm, property damage, and my business was left 1 star reviews. What the heck is wrong with you?!

The staff is so warm and caring, our last rescue we adopted from them was so well taken care of, he had been there 3 separate times, and we were able to adopt him until he crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. Highly recommend!

I filled out a application for a dog they posted on their web site. The next day they called me and set up a viewing on the dog, and to see if the dog and my chihuahua will get along. We met the dog we were interested in, the 2 dogs got along, we took both dogs for a walk in their back yard. They approved of us in getting the dog. Very nice workers, the dog kennel where they keep all the dogs is very clean. They have the dogs shots up to date, they spay and neuter the dogs, and they have a ID put under the dogs skin before they leave the kennel. They gave us a dog bed, blanket, a bag of dog toys, treats to take home for our new dog. They called us 2 months later to see how the dog is doing and if there is any bad habits that they can help us with. Very nice place to get a dog from. When in time I am wanting another dog, this is the place I'm going to.

Clackamas County Dog Services | Aug 16, 2021

Sorry, but we cannot answer for other organizations. We are currently closed to the public and our adoptions are on hold until further notice. Once ready, we transfer the dogs in our care to our rescue partners for fostering and adoption. Once we have dogs available for adoption, they will appear on our webpage: https://www.clackamas.us/dogs#adoptadog

Call them and ask. Also go to their website, click 'found dogs' and look. You can also post your dog under 'lost dogs'

I have new neighbors and their dogs are left alone for hours and bark and bark . The owner is not willing to problem solve what can I do ... ???I can't take the barking anymore !!!

Call Dog Services and talk to them. It depends on the city you're in. In some cases the police might be helpful. But getting advice directly from Dog Services is your best bet.

Does this place have a veterinarian on site?

Kimberly Tracy | Apr 18, 2022
Clackamas County Dog Services | Apr 18, 2022

We actually do have an in-house Veterinarian that takes care of the dogs that are in our care. She performs needed surgeries and medical care to get them ready for adoption or transfer to rescue. Our Vet is for in-house care only (for the dogs in our care) and does not do outside services. Just wanted to clarify!

Is the facility open to public entry and dog viewing?

Dwaine Prink | Aug 16, 2021
Clackamas County Dog Services | Aug 16, 2021

Hi Dwaine, No, we are still closed to the public and all programs, including adoptions and viewings, are still on hold. Most of our operations are taking place virtually and we are operating on a skeleton crew inside the building. The dogs in our care, when ready, are transferred to our rescue partners for fostering and adoption. We post them each Friday (when we are able) on our Facebook page. You can reach out to the rescue groups for viewing when you see a pup you like. Please note that they may have different fees, rules, etc. that we do when we are operating normally.

Am I allowed to volunteer at the age of 13?

G.T. Harris-Kopkau | Aug 16, 2020

Yes, but only for certain programs, a parent or guardian must be trained in the same program and be with you at all times, and you cannot have any physical contact with the dogs. You can find this information on their website.

When do you do spaying ...I have a cat that was dropped off apparently because the people probably did not w aaas nt to care for her. Is there a reduced price available

Linda Herrell | Aug 16, 2020
G.T. Harris-Kopkau | Aug 16, 2020

They don't do any surgical services there...they are a dog shelter only. They do not take in cats. The only time they spay or neuter dogs is when they belong to the shelter and are being prepared for adoption.

I need to get my puppy neutered but can’t afford it from a vet. I’m 60 years old and am only working 12 hours a week. Are there any low cost resources available

Valerie Eisele | Aug 16, 2020
G.T. Harris-Kopkau | Aug 16, 2020

There are a number of low cost Vets in the area. If you are any type of state or federal government assistance, bring proof to the shelter and you could qualify for the spay and neuter financial assistance program. You would need to purchase a 1 year license for $24 as a part of the deal.

Is this a no kill shelter and if it is not how does the shelter decide who gets put down?

Lynn Hakala | Aug 17, 2019
A B (Ali Bond) | Aug 17, 2019

The rate has been reduced to just 5% of cats and about 8% of dogs. This incredibly high success rate is due to donations, volunteers and partnerships with local veterinary clinics willing to give of their time and resources at reduced rates for dogs in the shelters and community partnerships for low/no cost rabies vaccines, spay/neuter services and affordable microchips. It takes good work to maintain this success rate but despite the hard work our community still occasionally gets an animal who's prognosis and/or pain is too great to justify extending and prolonging suffering or safety. These decisions are made on a team level based on several factors and most definitely noted by each involved staff member.

Is there a way to shorten my FIVE YEARS OF NOT BEING ALLOWED TO HAVE A DOG????

Regretfully these impositions are placed on certain community members for the health and safety of our citizens, the animals and other property.
