Never before have I even considered writing a review of a place of business, but my experience I had at the U.S. Customs & Border Protection certainly prompted me to do so. My whole experience was so tedious, frustrating, and such a waste of time, I felt responsible to share my experience as to warn other before engaging themselves with these people. These government workers were constantly belittling and condescending to me. They would even laugh at me when I didn't use the proper terminology regarding my vehicle shipment. In short, I was trying to ship an old military vehicle that has no title across the sea to England, which I had never done before. Instead of being helped, I had to approach someone who was qualified to help me. They simply informed me that "I will not sort through these papers" because I had insufficient information. To be fair, my situation was rather tricky. Having that said, it was not a situation best left for me to just "figure out" myself. Because of their reluctance to do what they are payed to do, I found myself at their office for 4 hours one day and for another 2 the next week. There is quite a mouth full more to this story, but what I concluded was that they are not willing to do their jobs. It's rather questionable if they even do their jobs, as they did not show me a shred of evidence that they had the proper skills to work there. After all of that, they didn't even help me get my vehicle transported. I strongly recommend avoiding using their services.

I was finally able to import my car into the US from Canada with the help of Johnson. He provided me with all the information I needed and was very helpful!

I am re-entering the USA from Asia and hand carrying about $1900 worth of silver jewelry..can I just declare it and pay duty without having to make a formal entry?

You are exempt up to $800 per US resident. You don't need a formal entry. If you were not a resident and a us citizen it's only a $100 . It's the same if you're not a us citizen.
