I applied for an apartment only to receive a call that the apartment posted on the website wasn't actually available yet as it was under eviction and they weren't sure when it would be available. They went ahead and processed my application anyways only to tell me an hour later I was denied, although they could not tell me why. When I received the denial letter a few days later, it cited the incorrect income and credit score. When I asked for a refund they said they could only send it by check which I haven't received almost three months later. They also NEVER answer the phone and even before I got denied the one time I was able to talk to someone she was eating during the phone call. This place is a SCAM.

I visited Sunset Palms on a Wednesday evening at around 5:00pm to inquire about a studio unit that was posted online for rent for $1096. I was told that it was an error due to a system update. I was then given a paper with their prices and fees (the pricing of the units were whited out and written in ink pen new prices of the units) That is not professional or legal. I added my name to the long waiting list. Ironically, the next day at around 12:00pm I received a phone call saying there is a studio unit available for $1326. I was astonished how quickly a unit became available and how expensive it was. The representative explained the reason of the high price was because it is located on the first floor with a patio. Nevertheless, I said I will take it considering the rental market at the moment is outrageously ridiculous! I was given instructions to go to the website to fill out the application ASAP. I concurred but had a skeptical feeling about it. On Friday morning at 10:00am I called to ask some questions and was told that the unit was already rented. The representative immediately said to me I will not be refunded the $85 application fee only the $200. I was livid because we spoke and confirmed I will be renting the unit. I refuse to believe that within less than 14 hours a unit became available and within less than 22 hours they were able to screen an applicant and approve. This to me sounds like a scam. BEWARE. It is sickening to me for businesses to take advantage of people especially with the cost of living at the moment. I am happy I decided not to move forward with Sunset Palms.

Wasn't going to leave a review, just my 2 stars. The weed smell, from the 2 surrounding units, awful. It made my apartment smell so bad, when I told the staff this, was told that the only thing they could do, was to put steel wool in my vents!!?? After 2 months, thank, God! 1 of my neighbors, moved! And the parking lot, though spacious, is well lit, perfect for drug deals, and use, ppl are always smoking weed in their cars, bc, they know, that nothing can be done, or will not. And also we have all these regulations, all that is not enforced. Can't wait to move! The only reason, I renewed, my lease is because of medical issues. All these ppl giving great reviews must be high, 4 stars! What a joke!! Buyer beware. Thanks.
