I just want leave a review about my visit I had with The Point apt staff! I came in one day at the last minute for a tour around like 5:50 the staff was very friendly and helpful! I would like to give a big shout out the Assistant property manager Cheryl who gave me all of the information I needed as far as pricing and questions or concerns I had! The front desk was very polite and talked with me while I waited for the office staff to assist me! Hands down the best customer service I have experienced that day.

I did a review about 7 months ago hoping there would be positive change. Something to consider if you want to live here based on my experience. The culture of the local management is not about the people and it shows. They do everything to prove themselves to be right, instead of understand what happened. They will also do the bare minimum to support. Here are some examples. 1. They leave paper notes without follow up. They assume we have no life outside this building and we are always on location. We miss suspense. Some of us travel for weeks away. They can't seem to comprehend our life does not evolve around them and we are the customer. The attitude seems to be we work for them. 1. When it benefits them, the internal e-mail seems to work well and they gladly e-mail about it, like insurance requirements. The manager would even argue that the e-mail notification has instruction on how to response, even though there is not. She just like to be right. Not worth the energy. 2. I've coordinate move out inspection and the office said they'll check if the time slot I requested is available. Waited...Five days later, I called since I haven't heard from them. No apology, but simply said "I thought I send you a message. Yes." 3. They set-up a pre-inspection inspection and left a paper note. Luckily, my friend stopped by to bring food because I was tested COVID and was very sick. The schedule was for the next day. E-mailed the manager immediately to notify her. It's amazing there was no concern for my health. No response, no nothing. This clearly shows their priority. The human aspect seems to be minimum. It's all about them.

Bottom line: Management is unresponsive and full of excuses. Concierge and Maintenance are great. Overall would NOT recommend to a friend. If you're looking for high-end amenities like functioning elevators, indoor smoke-free spaces, and actual access to the parking garage (don't get me started about these new scanners at the doors) AND you, selfishly, would like building management to be responsive and correct problems, look elsewhere. For what you'll pay to live here, the management-level customer service is abysmal. That said, what keeps this from being a 1-star review, from a 3+ year resident, is the lower-level staff. To a person, the front desk and maintenance teams are fantastic. They're friendly, welcoming, and do everything they can to help residents. I've seen front desk concierge carry packages for older residents, open and hold doors for residents with their hands full, and the maintenance team is quick to fix any and all issues we've had (including replacing our fridge/freezer and dishwasher over the years).

I just moved into the Point in February and couldn't be happier. I specifically chose an older building vs the newer buildings surrounding this one because the units where significantly larger as in twice the size of my last super tricked out apartment in Old Town Alexandria for the same price. I love my unit. The property has a dog park which is awesome, the maintenance team is fantastic-every request I have made has been resolved in less than 24 hours, they were in and out before I even realized. The front desk staff is equally great. Incredibly friendly and helpful. Management thus far has been very responsive, easy to communicate with and happy to help. They have worked hard to make the amenities available in the midst of a pandemic unlike my last apartment. If there is any down side I would say its that the building is NOT non smoking, I honestly didn't think any buildings allowed smoking any more so as a non smoker its not great but I knew that going in so Im not complaining. If you need new and fancy this isn't the place but if space is a priority, friendly neighbors important, a commitment to tenant satisfaction and location valued, this is a great community.

Questions & Answers

what year was the bldg built

It is pretty old, and I am not sure when it was built. But there is a couple that has lived in the building for plus or minus 20 years. The place has layers upon layers of old paint and a moisture problem that causes mold. The only updates to the building are the lobby area, elevators, and other common areas. The apartments still have what looks like the original flaky popcorn ceilings.

Is there a shuttle or METRO Bus from the Point to the Pentagon? What is cost of parking for guests? for residents?

The cost for parking is $75 per month or $175 per month for reserved parking (Ground level). The cost for guest parking is $7 per day. No idea about shuttle or bus to the Pentagon.
