I really enjoyed the last 4-1/2 hours! I took an Intermediate Beekeeping class taught by John Edwards, at his new business location in West Linn Oregon. The presentation was well organized and well presented. We spent some time in an informative interactive lecture. The time flew by with so much interesting info to cover. Then we went to the bee yard and went through many of the hives, making observations and learning what to look for. Hive and Garden is a unique facility. John has an impressive wood shop where he manufactures honeybee hive components, like hive bodies, inner/outer covers, screened bottom boards, and more. I purchased one of the screened bottom boards to help track my hive’s varroa mite status. His online store sells pretty much everything you will need for your beekeeping adventure. Most of it sourced and built locally in the Portland area. John also sells queen bees and packages of bees. If you are thinking of getting into beekeeping, or if you are already a beekeeper, and have questions (we all do) – John’s classes are the perfect place to gain the experience and confidence to be a successful beekeeper.
