Took my sick snake in to be checked out. I was told he needed antibiotics and would likely pass away. We were told that he needed 2 weeks worth of medicine and we specifically asked "do you really think he has 2 weeks left" the vet (practice owner) responded "oh definitely! Nothing happens fast with snakes." They injected my snake and sent me home with $80 worth of injections to administer over the next two weeks. 1 hour later he was dead. After calling them to cancel the checkup appointment and ask what we could do about the medicine that I never initially thought I should purchase so much of to begin with they told me that they would not give any type of refund or office credit and recommended that I self-diagnose my other snake and case the infection had spread and used the medicine on her even though it was specifically measured out based on his weight and body size and symptoms very unprofessional and misleading. *Edit* after speaking with multiple members of the practice it is clear that they do not take responsibility for their actions and only try to blame you and act as if they never said what was said. And 1 shot is the same price as 5? That's convenient. I was given 5 shots not 14 but the issue isnt even worth their time to know what they even sent me home with. But I'm wondering if the medicine was supposed to be divided into 14 syringes but was only divided into five probably being what went wrong. Smh. Find a different vet..

Me and my dogo absolutely loved our experience here. They were able to book our appointment the same day I called to schedule based on my dog’s symptoms. The staff was super attentive and welcoming to us and Dr. Cameron and Vet tech Erica were very knowledgeable at helping me understand what the options were and what worked best for my dog. Thank you very much! Now we have a go-to vet for life.

Was a client for a year but unfortunately had to move out of state! Overall my experience with them was great, I went for them for my dog’s dental procedure, every time he was sick and for wellness. The staff was very kind with my nervous pup and very informative answering questions. The new location is very nice and the staff cares greatly about your furbabies.

We have only been to Tampa Veterinary Hospital a couple of times, but we have been very impressed with the level of care for our dog, as well as the kind and professional behavior of the staff. In particular, I wanted to give a shout-out to Erika, who amazingly let me in 30 minutes after hours when I confusedly showed up to try to get a prescription late on Friday, and of course Dr. Webster who wrote the prescription (and other staff of course who helped). In addition, the new facility itself is beautiful, clean, and spacious. You will definitely not be disappointed going to Tampa Veterinary Hospital!

We do offer these services, but most often refer c-sections to our sister hospital in Lakeland- as they specialize in reproduction and are best equipped and staffed to handle c-sections.
Hi Luz, Thanks for your question. Our surgical procedures tend to be more costly than other facilities that promote 'low-cost' spays and neuters. Our neuters for a 12 pound pet would be around $550. When you compare pricing, it is important to not just look at the cost, but consider what is included with the cost. Our procedures tend to cost more because we take extra steps to reduce risk and maximize the comfort of your pet- which other places may not include. For more information, please visit our website for more information on our standards of care for surgical procedures. https://www.tampavet.com/pet-care-services/spay-and-neuter/ We hope to have the opportunity to serve you and your pet.
Maria, Good question. Becoming a veterinarian is a long and difficult process- very similar to that of becoming a human doctor. The first step is getting the proper education- which starts with an undergraduate degree (some schools offer a pre-veterinary track)- then getting into veterinary school. There are about 30 accredited veterinary programs throughout the US and the Caribbean. After meeting all of the necessary requirements of graduation, which include externships and other live experiences such as residencies, a veterinarian must pass a state exam in order to get their license to practice in their state. Those are the basics- and keep in mind that specialists (such as veterinary oncologists, cardiologists, etc.) can go to school for even longer. We hope this answers your question.
Hi Brithany! Yes- Dr. Webster and Dr. Davidson both see rabbits. We would enjoy the opportunity to provide care for your rabbit. Please give us a call to set up an appointment. We're open 7 days a week. We hope to see you soon!
A simple ear cleaning is $15.30. Proof of up-to-date rabies vaccine is required in order for our team to perform any procedures. A medicated ear cleaning begins at $24 and up. Sometimes problems with ears require more than a simple ear cleaning and may be caused by other issues, such as ear mites or infection. An exam by a veterinarian may be required to determine the best course of action. We offer a new patient exam with an appointment for $5. An appointment may be requested via our website.
Dustin, Thanks for your question. Yes, we offer care for many different types of reptiles. We have 2 veterinarians on our team who see them- Dr. Webster and Dr. Tepedino. Their schedules differ, so if you would like to schedule an appointment, please call us and request an appointment with one of these two doctors. We hope to have the opportunity to serve you.
Everado, Thank you for your inquiry. We apologize that we cannot provide pricing information for any surgical procedure without first seeing your pet. We understand that cost may be a determining factor in your decision as to where to take your pet- and we will not be the least expensive. That being said, our standards of care are significantly higher than a low-cost facility. To learn more about our surgical protocols, and why our services cost more than some others, please visit our website https://www.tampavet.com/pet-care-services/surgery-and-medical/ We would be happy to present you with a written estimate should you want to bring your pet in for a $5 new patient exam. An appointment is required for the $5 new patient exam and may be requested on our website or by calling us at 813-254-3031. We hope to have the opportunity to serve you.
I really don't know about Birdie surgery, I'm sorry. But I can tell you that they will work with you. We brought one of our strays in, and they worked with us to give him the best care we could afford at that time, and they were VERY sweet to my porch Kitty. Good luck with your Birdy. Oh, they were the best priced place, though.
Ivy, Thanks for your question. An exam for a hamster, or any other type of pet rodent would run around $70 for the initial examination. Depending on what the doctor may find during the exam, the cost may go up from there- depending on the needs of your pet. We would provide you with a detailed treatment plan- in writing- explaining what the doctor recommends as well as the cost. You would be able to approve or decline these additional services or products that the doctor recommends. We hope this answers your question, and we look forward to the opportunity to serve you and your pet.
Hello Tasha. Thanks for your question. Yes, we do see all types of birds, from parakeets to larger parrots. We also see a variety of reptiles and other exotic species. We hope to be able to serve you and your parakeet.
Hello, Anita. Thanks for your question. Yes, we do offer boarding for patients of the hospital. We must have a veterinary-patient relationship in order for us to board a pet. This allows us to have a medical history for the pet so we can offer the best levels of care and service while the pet is in our care. Yes, we are open on Saturdays from 7:30 AM to 5 PM.
Hello Denise, Thanks for your question. We offer hospitalization for pets who are ill. Costs are dependent on many factors, such as the illness, the amount of specialized care they need, etc. We would also first need one of our veterinarians to review their medical history as well as examine the pet before we could offer hospitalization. I hope this answers your question.
