Disappointed that we didnt see any whales while we visited, but we had a great walk along the trail that leads up to the lighthouse. I even proposed to my girlfriend along the pathway while we were stopped at the overlook. Now we are thinking of maybe returning to have a wedding in the same spot!!

June equinox Annual Orcas Sing is an experience like no other. At the cliffs of Lime Kiln State Park, a choir sings so beautifully, the sound of angels. This annual event is stunning.

From the ferry terminal Lime Kiln is in the other side of the island. If you have a vehicle you need a Discovery Pass but can buy one there for $30. It is a nice walk through a trees path. The path quickly opens up to a beautiful view with seats along the trail. This is a great place for pictures and would be even better to get a photographer to do family photos. We could have stayed here all day long. We didn’t see any whales but the colors were so gorgeous it makes all your photos look professional.

Lime Kiln State Park is a beautiful area in Friday Harbor on the San Juan Islands. Beautiful park. Not a long walk from the parking area to the lighthouse. The rugged ocean shoreline below is amazing. We didn't see any orcas when at the lighthouse, but seen there often. Beautiful peaceful area.

This is a perfect place for whale watching from land and for shorter, easier hikes. Camping does not appear to be allowed at this particular location, but there are other locations at the island where camping is allowed. If you are intetested, our kayaking guide from Sea quest mentioned the option of a few day kayak & camp in the wider area of the island cluster. This could be a lot of fun!
