Thrilling and a bit scary to climb up the winding staircase to the top. There are no windows inside the column - not recommended if you’re claustrophobic and/or have bad knees/hips/heart. Also think it’s not the place for small children who can’t climb the stairs on their own. It can get pretty congested on the narrow staircase. Please be mindful and respectful of other visitors! We made it to the top on a clear day. The view is outstanding. I was afraid to get close to the edge on the small (tiny!) observation deck so I stayed against the wall. Best feeling was descending the stairs and stepping out into the sunshine with a feeling of “wow! I did it!”

Visited on a sunny afternoon and views across Columbia River are amazing. Megler Bridge also looks amazing. The column itself is covered in historic paintings and can be climbed internally up a 264 step steel spiral stairway. Viewing platform at top gives great views. Only $5 to enter and park and also a small gift shop. Great stop for an hour.

I do recommend visiting this place. The views from the top of the tower are really pretty especially if you get to go when the weather it's sunny and clear. It's a small fee of $5 to enter the park which is well worth it. There's bathrooms and they're clean.

It’s a must see if you visit Astoria. You need to pay $5 for each car (you can use the pass for 1 year) You get 360’ awesome views. You can climb the stairs to the top of the column which is a great experience itself. There are picnic tables and a gift shop. Grab a sandwich and enjoy the million dollar views.

It is in the best condition it's ever been, definitely a must do!
164 steps up a spiral staircase. Thrre are small platforms on the way up to pause and take a break if needed.
Bill & Bobbi got it right. But so worth the trip. The view is spectacular
Something like 164 steps. It's a very narrow spiral staircase also and is usually very crowded, which makes going up and down it difficult because people will be squeezing by you to go down as you go up. Wear shoes with a good grip if you can.
The only thing u will have to pay is $5. For parking. Once u pay that going up the column is free! There is a small gift shop up there aswell!
The Astoria Column is open 7 days a week 10am-6pm. If its in those hours then yes it is open.
It's open!
I don't see why they would close, but I am uncertain!
The park opens at 9 am.
Yes there is a trail that goes to see and old historic cathedral tree you can take that same trail to see that and also take it to get to the top of the hill for the coulem.
Gift shop is open except Christmas day and new years. Their hours change seasonally however with shorter hours in fall and winter
It was a monument by the railway company.
If you just want to enjoy the view from the bottom of the column, which is still quite good, there should be no problem with pets.
Been around since the 30's. The most visited park in the state. MILLIONS!
