Really good fried cod fish fillets. Especially w/tartar sauce. It's a bit pricey, however, for what is essentially a nicer seafood fast food joint...When I say nicer I mean in comparison to the only other fast food places I've tried before that specialize in seafood - Skippers & Long John Silvers (similar atmosphere though). Ivar's is definitely a step above in quality, taste and at least equal in quantity.. It's just not quite sit down restaurant level quality, and to be fair, maybe it's not trying to be..

I hadn't been to Ivar's in awhile and I just want to say, amazing experience! The food has always been great. We had the scallops, cod, coleslaw and clam chowder. Yummy as usual but what set this apart was the service, cleanliness and overall experience there today. Sarah greeted us and took our order and was so sweet and professional! Rodney, who was the manager, spent time in kitchen cooking, served food, checked on everybody and really cared. They are so nice there and such hard workers. They made my day!

The staff seemed more focused on drive thru. The restaurant dining room is stuck in the 70's and is in need of an update. I have eaten at Ivar's for decades and always ordered Cajun fish and chips and consistently they have shrunk the potions down so much that it is no longer enjoyable.

I love Ivar's and make the special trip just for their fish and chips. Went to the Ivar's in Lakewood, in the past has been consistently good food and customer service but this time things were off. The fish was barely cooked all the way through and the clam strips were clumped together (see pic, center area of the basket) and fried that way resulting in a gooey, gross lump of bread. We ask the Assistant Manager to remake our food. He made no response with a plain look on his face, grabbed the food and took it away to be remade. Sheesh... sorry for putting you out dude... :|. Second round was much better fortunately. Despite kind of a disappointing visit the Manager did come out and talked to us, apologized for the issues and gave us a bowl of chowder for free. Now that's the way to handle a situation. Thank you Ivar's for making it right.
