Every Petco I've ever gone to had the most knowledgeable, helpful employees!! Today, my praise goes to Andi. Andi was so helpful, patient, kind and spoke from experience. She never made me feel like I was taking up too much of her time and was so, so kind. Thank you Andi! I would also like to acknowledge the cashier but I did not get his name. He too, was most understanding and patient. Thank you Petco, for employing such awesome people who care! You've set a high standard and your workers meet it everytime in my opinion. I was disappointed that they didn't really have much to choose from when it comes to outfits for dogs. They used to have a huge selection, as well as all the different sizes. This time though the selection was very bare bones, and they only had the larger sizes. 😔

Petco Janssen Beach (Portland, Oregon). Went in there today to get a Guinea pig I had seen earlier and decided would be a great addition to our group. Walked in a little after 5pm, store is fairly empty (granted it’s Easter Sunday so not many people are out getting stuff for their pets). I go up and ask to get this sweet little piggy and am straight up told “no”. “Umm…what? Why?” “We are understaffed so we are closing at 6” *checks watch, it’s not even 5:30 yet* “Yeah so the animals are already locked down because there are only 2 of us working right now” *there’s well over half an hour left, and one of you is at an empty register and the other is walking around sweeping* “Okay. Well can I put him on hold until tomorrow?” “Uh. Sure” We go back and forth a bit more, the exact details are unimportant. What matters is the total lack is caring or giving any amount of…well…anything. Employee could not have cared less. They just wanted to close up and leave. So rather than helping the customer and making a sale, I leave not at all convinced the sweet little piggy will be there by the time I get off work tomorrow because the employ barely took my name and number. And had no info regarding what that sticky note was for. I get it - it’s the end of the day. You’re tired. Ready to go home. But, maybe make sure the customer feels cared about and respected. Not just cast aside so you can go home an hour early. I am going to be really bummed when that pig gets sold to someone else while I’m at work because the employee couldn’t take the 2 minutes away from sweeping to do things correctly. Anyway! This is just one of many negative interactions I’ve had here lately and it’s getting ridiculous. I’ve been coming to Petco for nearly 30 years for my various animals, and never have I been treated as poorly as I have the last few times I’ve gone in.

Store employee that rang me up was very nice however spent the entirety of the transaction complaining about coworkers being able to do things they would "get in trouble for" and that if that individual could get away with using supplies than they should be able to do so..that when they were handing inventory how different it was and that "these kids just don't care". It was a fairly one sided conversation as I tried to hurriedly pay and extricate myself from this situation.. wanting no part of whatever bad day had seemingly occurred prior to my choice of entering the checkout line. They did not provide an actual total nor ask any of the typical questions that previous associates have done when I've purchased items at a Petco; simply a slow tap thru the screens that popped up for them all the while maintaining the aforementioned rantings.
