I'm currently sitting in an exam room waiting for my doctor 1 hour after my original appointment time. I understand sometimes appointments run late but this is an incredibly ridiculous amount of time to wait for a scheduled appointment. Not to mention I had to wait over a month for my appointment in the first place. Going to be calling Tricare and switching to be seen at McCord clinic ASAP

I was admitted to Madigan hospital in Jan 2022. The staff from the ER, radiology, 6th floor hospital, surgery, physical therapy, nutrition, etc. were all wonderful. Everyone (except for 1 ancillary staff member) were attentive, helpful, professional & caring. I'd also like to mention about the recent update with the pharmacy in the medical mall. Being able to send a text to process new prescriptions & then pick-up much quicker. I also like the self-serve refill station in the mall main lobby. Picking-up refills are easy & so quick.

I was assigned to Madigan six weeks after it opened in mid-March 1992 as the senior NCO on 7-south. After I retired I went to work in the ER for 4 years. At some point I volunteered spare time with the Patient Advocates' Office with a retired Sargent Major that was an old friend from Brooke Army Medical Center. He greatly cared about people and that is where it ended for him. He did not play the game and was retaliated against. What did I learn? If you are a head nurse in an ICU (he was a major) and a female doctor is verbally abusing your male staff, there is not a thing you can do about it. If you seek remedy, it will either be hushed up and/or you will be retaliated against for rocking the boat. If you are a captain in the Emergency Department and you refuse to have your picture posted in a public place with your name; you will be retaliated against and your career ruined. The pictures were apart of a publicity scheme by the Chief of the Emergency Department who was building empires. He enjoyed intimidating subordinates. In the Patients' Advocates Office it was a routine chore to look for an appointment after a patient was not notified their appointment for that day had been cancelled. When the patient actually did show up on time they were told it had been cancelled by a few days earlier by the patient. Actually the doctor was the one who did the cancellation in the computer so they could have a Friday afternoon to golf. The above was just the scratch on the iceberg. I witnessed so many federal laws broken, malpractice and death, abuse of staff especially lower ranking military. The large turnover of staff, low moral, incompetence are all symptoms of bad uncaring leadership. The pharmacy has from the very beginning been corrupt and inefficient. The ER staff were overworked but, still good caring professional staff who put up with a lot. When you see sh*t at the bottom of the hill, you know where it came from - civilians building empires and military who don't want their boat rocked so they can get the next promotion. There is so much more to the story - google "Madigan" in the Tacoma paper, the Seattle Times, the New York Times, look about ten years ago.

Place is a joke. There is no EFMP program no matter what they say! The pharmacy is a joke and no one wants to help or be there. Pharmacist are rude, unhelpful, and I think they take joy in being so. There's all these different lines and none of them move faster than a snail. There's also mass confusion about the lines from both patients and staff. The family practices are a joke. Don't expect or need to see a Dr when you call. You will be waiting at least a month out. And forget about having a personal doctor. You'll just be rotated to different doctors, reexplaining your situation over and over again.

The drive up pick up window is not open on Saturday, only inside pick-up is available. If picking up called in refills let them know at the window when your number is called.
Yes. They also have all specialty departments onsite.
Birth certificates are still filed @ Vital Statistics within the state you were born. Hospitals do not keep an official copy since when you request it they need to be notarized to be valid to use for 'official' purposes (like jobs, drivers license, professional certificate license, passports....anything you are needing to 'prove' who you are). I hope this helps.
Depends on how fast you place your breakfast, lunch, and dinner orders, sir

Have to see your military MAMC primary care dr. and he has to recommend you for a hearing appt or you can call the VA for an appt.
Phones are currently down and having issues is what I was told yesterday.
Yes
Yes.
You should call tricare and ask them, but i wouldnt think so.
I am patient. I was just wondering why it took so long. I know every military base is different. Just never used to being on hold for a long time.
I do not know. Sorry.
Ask at the Help Desk.
Yes. Providers wrongly tell patients that MAMC will call them to make appts but it's the patients responsibility to call.
MAMC is located just south of Tacoma.
Yes my husband got PRK but lasik is offered as well.
Madigan
You probably need to contact their ligal dept
Madigan doesn’t mail RX, but the there is a mail service that you can use.
Yes
Judith Presson is correct, your military friend has to request a pass for you and when you show up they may send someone along as an escort to help you get to the hospital on base and then back again to the gate when your visit is over. I know this because I'm an Air Force Veteran with 3 brothers who are serving now, one as a Army National Guardsman, one in the Air Force and the third an Army Airborne Ranger.
Visit the PMO in the Medical mall on the second floor
They have a Neurology clinic. My son-inlaw was referred to the Univ of Wash. for his headaches
Are you asking if Dr. Wilson is the chief of the EMT clinic?
