I’m so happy tonight while writing this review. My 92 year old Dad has been at Heritage Green Hanover AL 10 days. He called me tonight and said “I’m really having a good time here”. He loves the food. Enjoys the staff. Especially the ladies that take the trash out of his studio and the dining staff that know him by name and the therepist which are so nice and patient and encouraging with him, and Christian with activities and transport who buckled Dad and wheelchair in so safely to go to his nearby appointment where I met them. Some staff stop in just to check on him and talk and say he’s easy to get along with. He knows how hard they work all day and thank them always. Get on the list for a studio or larger room if you need to move your loved one to AL. The marketing staff, Holly and Sarah are both terrific and knowledgeable. They know me by name when I visit and great with answers to questions or point me to correct person for answers per department. Getting better and better as days go on. Start talking to your loved one TWO years before YOU think they need it as I did with my father. So many miss out on enjoying the last good years of their life by being isolated in a house all alone most of the days. Don’t wait until they need Memory Care, as they may just be happy in Assisted Living. I’m thankful I found Heritage Green.

My dad was admitted Jan 2021 to the memory care unit , the staff seemed caring and organized at first. As time went forward I had a hard time getting my calls returned from the staff and my dads bill was always incorrect. Over the next few months dad began to improve and the nurse practitioner on staff recommended dad going to an asst living would be a better fit. At the care conference in July with the director and DON, insisted he needed to stay in memory care , which is very expensive , I told them I'm taking the nurse practitioner advice and I wanted to move him to the asst living side which is much cheaper. The director said there was no vacancy at this time. I found out from a staff member a few days later that wasnt true. My dad ended up in the hospital in July with a very low heart rate , he almost died. The doctor at the hospital said it was his blood pressure medication that caused his admission. I explained my dad was on this medication for years , apparently the weekend staff over medicated him. This happened on a Sunday. I was very disappointed with the care he received and the administration staff was less engaged. I gave HG a 30 day notice, spoke with the business manager several times to make sure dad would not be overcharged again. When I received the last bill, he was over charged. Still have not received a refund and it's been almost a month since his discharged. I do not recommend this facility.

Heritage Green came highly recommended. Our first encounters were very positive. My mother in law moved in April 2021 and by the end of July 2021 she had fallen and was in the hospital with a broken hip. Our family does understand that these things happen especially in elderly patients. The problem is the number of residents that have fallen there in that time period. My mother in law fell Sunday and there had been another fall on that Friday night of another resident. After speaking with the director she stated that they had more falls recently and they were making changes to the night team and had an RN come in to retrain the night team. My wife had a meeting with the director and nurse to plan for my mother in law’s discharge from rehab to come back to Heritage Green. We were assured that they could take care of her and went over the changes that had been made. The meeting was positive and my wife felt good about things. The Friday of her discharge from rehab the director of Heritage Green called and stated that they had sent a nurse to evaluate her and that she could not come back to Heritage Green because they couldn’t meet her needs and she was a fall risk. We knew nothing about them evaluating her. After this of course we had to scramble and spend quite a bit of money for her to stay in rehab until we found a place for her. Heritage Green did refund her August payment and partial payment for July care. We are very involved in our Mother’s care and Heritage Green was a huge disappointment. Her life is forever changed because of this incident.

I had breakfast with my mom today at Heritage Green... the food was every bit as good as the Denny’s “Grand-Slam” at least I think so. People are so caring. My dad just passed away, and people are super supportive of my mom as she gets used to letting go. I appreciate their TLC!
