Very nice station, pleasant and polite staff. Just have to have a little patience while your car is loaded or unloaded. 😉 I'm sure the station could seat about 700, but everybody wants an empty space next to them, so it only seats about 400. Believe the train's current Max capacity is 550 people.

Depends on the amount of people going to Virginia that day. It's based on demand. As of right now loads are low headed North. In Spring that changes more people go North
Like James said, time of year and direction you are going determine the cost! Family room is a 6'6" long set of bunk beds, and a 5' long set! You can also skip a room and stay in a coach seat for much less!
They usually have a food truck there available for purchases. Simpe Soup N Sammich is there Tuesday to Saturday for the most part. DELICIOUS! They said other food trucks rotate in when they're not there.

I feel that in order to enjoy the experience, the cabinette is the better way to do the journey, riding in coach has its limits, yes there is power in both locations, the comfort of the journey makes all the difference.
Oops, l gave directions for the Lorton gas station. Sanford you pull out of the station and turn Left, gas station is on the left at the corner. If you turn left here there are a few stations by I-4 as well that is a few miles away.

I don't work for Amtrak but if you secured in your car it should be safe because people store stuff in their car in the auto car train itself and no one walks through there once they close those gates on the auto car....

I work on the Auto train. Currently only the sleeper car passengers receive dinner on the train. Complimentary Breakfast is given to both coach and sleeper car passengers in the morning.
I work on the train. No you can not open the windows in the sleeper rooms or at the coach seats. They are removable for emergencies only. You can however leave the curtains open if you like to see outside.
Knock on wood, I haven't so far. This trip ill be riding on top so time will tell if this causes motion sickness
They cancelled 5/17 train because the one from VA from 5/15 still hasn't arrived in Sanford at 7pm on 5/16. This has happened alot in the past year. All the money they have gotten and service has gotten worse. The crew is always very nice. Amtrak has no backup plan for this. I wish they would have back up cars so at least we can loaded up at wait.

That question cannot really be answered. Prices vary a lot depending on how busy the train is expected to be on the day you want to travel, and how many other people actually book that day before you do. Also you must pay for the room, each person in the room, and the vehicle you drive so the cost of the room itself is only part of the entire price of the trip. Generally people who book months in advance would pay less than people who wait until a few days before their trip. Traveling during a less popular season will be much cheaper than the busiest times. Often 1 direction will be much more expensive than the other because so many snowbirds use this train to migrate. You can easily go on their app and check the current price for multiple days, one day at a time, and choose the cheapest date that works for your trip.
I believe service dogs are the only ones actually allowed inside the Train cars with other people I believe all other dogs have to be in their canal and put in the baggage area... I believe the baggage car is also well ventilated but you can always call And speak to someone
The more important thing if you are traveling is that vehicle check in is currently between 11:30am and 2pm. The train is allowed to leave early and is sometimes late but the scheduled daily departure if you are just wanting to watch it pull out is 4pm. It is often out around 15 minutes before that. (April 13th 2022)

Not on the Auto Train which is the only station in Sanford. Regular trains only allow dogs for short trips (I think the limit may be around 7hrs) and the Auto Train is more like a 17 hour nonstop trip. If leaving from nearby Winter Park or Deland for a qualifying (short) trip you have to purchase a dog-ticket for the dog in addition to your own ticket. There may be size restrictions and they may require a carrier, I'm not sure about that.
I've never seen a trailer pulled by a truck allowed to be transported.

1800 USA RAIL . The sleeping cars are all set up the same configuration. Handicap room is downstairs and has a bathroom. But unless you like sleeping in a twin together one of you would still have to climb a bunk. Hope this helps.

If I am reading your question correctly you want to drop off your car at 10:30 a.m. and you want to know how you can go into the station waiting room to station is like 50 feet from where you drop your car and totally wheelchair accessible. Just so you know, you board the train around 2:30 for a 4pm departure. If you want to eat lunch bring it or have lunch before you arrive.

You can get there as late as 2 but if you want a good dinner seating time get there early. You can check in as early as 9 AM. They will allow you to check in at the counter, and keep your car to visit the Sanford area, but you have to be back by 2 for loading.
NO you can check in after 9:30 AM the day of your trip, that is the earliest they will allow.
The way I would play that would be to stay north of Orlando. Lake Mary area. Two reasons. 1, tourists want to stay Orlando and south. Hotels will offer good pricing and accommodations there as they have to try harder than hotels south. 2, most checkouts will be noonish. This gives you two hours to get from hotel to station which is more than adequate and also allows for some site seeing not to mention miserable traffic north of Orlando. If you hit the station by 2:00 for 4:00pm departure, you'll be gold. If you are bringing motorcycle to station, be sure to arrive at station by noonish. Anytime after 2:00pm and you will be turned away. This is strictly enforced. Bring up your Google map, put Lake Mary in the middle, and type hotels. A bunch will show up. Have fun!

Do not arrive 1 minute after 2 p.m. they will not take you I have experienced that. Arrival start around 11 a.m. I would say get there between 12 and 1 at the latest
A station for a train that allowed people and cars to ride the same train. It goes to Lorton VA, that is the only other stop.
No smoking on train at all. When the train stops to refuel, that is your time to get off for a smoke. Be ready as the stop only lasts for 10 minutes and there is only one stop.

All previous answers are correct, but if you are NOT travelling with a vehicle, you might be able to transfer to a Wilmington bound train at a station BEFORE you get to Lorton. I don't know which one that could be so do check the schedules. But UBER and Lyft do make a lot of things possible, like riding between stations from Lorton to King Street, etc.
If you're on a schedule, give yourself at least 90 minutes to travel that distance. That way you'll be on time - most of the time ;)
