Lived at the Laurels for about three years, recently moved out to be closed to work but stayed with the Essex Community. Never had any issues with the neighbors or area, very peaceful location and rent prices were good compared to other apartments in Mill Creek. Would like to give thanks to the maintenance guy (Larry was always very friendly and very prompt). Thank you to the management team for making my transfer a very smooth process. Thanks

There's a small path behind the property, real nice, small escape from the city. Also a nature reserve across the street is amazing. Been here about 2 years now and I still love it. Maintenance and office is great. Workout room looks nice. Also they had this wifi hangout room by the workout room that looked real nice, (probably still closed for now) I'd recommend this property to friends and family.

Been here for over a year and have had nothing but positive experience. The community is tucked beside a little hill leading into Mill Creek. Very easy access to the freeway and lots of shopping right across the street. Rent is reasonable and the minor issues I've had have been addressed in a timely manner. The one very small gripe I would have is when it snows they don't salt or plow the parking area which makes it challenging, also not a fan of them taking away the ability to have packages dropped at the office...it's a nice amenity that was taken away at the last Essex property I was at as well. Overall would recommend, ask for Verita the CM..super nice and always helpful!

EDIT: Be careful if you ever transfer apartments within the same community. Long story short, we paid over double what was originally explained to us to transfer apartments, and when we didn’t pay a hidden fee, we were threatened with legal action on a Friday afternoon if we didn’t pay $700 dollars by Sunday. Our family situation changed so we needed to upgrade to a two bedroom from a one bedroom. We had assumed it would be easier to move within the same complex, but we were wrong. We were originally told by the office manager that it would be $750 to transfer, including a new pet deposit. All said and done, it costed us over double that, just to change buildings! Had we known that, we would have just moved to an apartment closer to our in-laws, which was our preference anyways, we were just trying to save money. The thing that changes this from a 5 star to a 2 star however, is the manner in which this whole process went down. The day before moving to our new place, we paid our new rent, plus about $600 in fees. Those were the fees I assumed were explained as our transfer fees (I had already paid $250). We moved in on Sunday, and on Friday at 3:30 in the afternoon, we get a call from the office manager saying we owed about $700 more by Sunday or they will proceed with legal action! I left work early so I could go talk to them in person, and they closed at least 40 minutes early that day. We ended up paying it, but I hated feeling like I did something wrong and almost like a criminal who doesn’t pay her rent when nothing was explained very well and these fees came up out of no where. THEY LET US MOVE IN AND THEN DEMANDED $700 EXTRA DOLLARS in two non business days or face eviction. If a person has to pay $1700 dollars to transfer apartments, fine, that’s the policy. But for goodness sake, make that well explained before you start a process you can’t stop. We went from wanting to stay at this complex for up to five more years, but we are not renewing our lease next year, no questions asked. The apartment is nice, however. The only complaint I have about the place itself is it seemed they rushed the renovations when they upgraded, because there are several small details the were messed up. Mostly cosmetic things that we can live with, so really, no big deal. The apartments are clean, decent size, and affordable! The complex as a whole is clean and quiet. I’ve been living here for over two years and any issues I’ve had (there have been very few) have been resolved promptly. They even enclosed our back patio (we have a ground floor unit) and that has given us even more living space in warmer weather. Over all, I highly recommend living here!
