Not sure about the unlimited as I don't do contracts, I have Verizon prepaid. I live between Malvern and Slocomb and have no service issues.
I apologize for the dated answer, but I hope this will still be useful. All major device lines are maintained and can be ordered when unavailable. When you see the pricing, it will usually show a "per month" and "retail" price. The retail is the full price of the phone before taxes. The per month cost is what you would pay for the device monthly, broken up over 24 months. It does not mean the phone is more than what is listed. However, there are times where they may be less if there are promotions available.
