This was the first step to my recovery and I will for ever be thankful. I read reviews comparing treatment center to jail and saying staff did nothing. This treatment center is for adults and I would not describe it as a intensive treatment center. I used this center simply to start to break bad habits, clear my head and begin the journey to recovery.

Did any one of you entered in 2002? I was a a patient for 30 days that I actually liked it. it was great place food was good,we a pool table basketball court good bed to sleep on to be honest what more do need. It help me out. If I live closer I would try to volunteer.

Not all treatment centers are for everyone.. But this place is great for independent people who can follow rules.. As long as you follow the rules and apply what you learn to your program. Your success rate can only go up from there.. The staff there is simply AMAZING and they work hard for their clients to get the most out of this program. Most people dont understand the hard work they put forth behind the scenes to keep this program going.. Alot of alcoholics and addicts get a day or two sober and start having the "entitlement" attitude and start making outrageous demands to the staff and expect the most from them as if they are owed everything.. Alot of us came off the street or from the trap house and have nothing. This staff tolerates all kinds of people so for anyone to be ungratful for this program or complain.. I dont get it. Its usaually cause they are not ready to give up their alcohol or drugs. Anyway the food is fulfilling and taste good.. They helped me get into housing and their seems to be so many smoke breaks it makes you want to quit lol Im also proud to say that I still hang or keep in touch faithfully with about 9-10 people that graduated from there.. So to me that proves SeaMar is doing something right!! You get what you want from Seamar.. I thank God a place like this exist for people like me💯💕

Have you ever been to treatment, here? I would suggest NOT to, and pick another place. Most of the staff has broken English that is very difficult to understand, especially on the PA System. You have to wait at least 20 minutes in line to get your meds. The food is cheap starch, so prepare to gain weight, even if you try not to. The bedrooms are in a basement where the black tile is ice cold, so getting up at 6am every morning is even more strenuous than it should be. The mandatory walk each morning is definitely in the bad part of town. My counselor Roslyn was too busy to give me the attention I deserved, even during our individual sessions, answering phones and constantly having other staff knock on the door - Patty's a hard-ass, but if you can...get HER, if you're a girl. At least she cares. I never even got back the coloring books that my Mom & sister brought me, because they needed "approval" from Roslyn, which never happened. COLORING BOOKS! The only good thing I have to say about the place is that you get to watch a movie in the evenings, it's one of the only places left with 5 smoke breaks a day (men & women separated - they don't tell you this because it may seem obvious, but do NOT ever, anywhere, sit and chat with the opposite sex), and there's some "ok" exercise equipment on the outside balcony. Be sure for at least three inches of packets (homework) to fill out, over the course of 30 days - not even kidding. But it just made me feel like I defined myself as an even bigger failure. Just...go someplace else. Better.
