I am a nurse that travel throughout the different counties to different facilities and I want to say how impressed I have been since my first day meeting beautiful receptionist Hannah and Britany always with a greeting of warm smiles which makes a whole difference in a place ambience. Its very clean and smells good. I have been working with a client with kind hearted nurses Jay and Krystal, caregivers Monze P who always find time to help me and brings a lot of joy to their residents. I can tell they really care for their residents because they know every particular thing about each of residents which means each resident is getting individualized care which is VERY important for residents with Dementia. DON Tiffany is awesome she manages the facility so well, cares about her employees and truly follow-up on her residents needs to ensure all is met. She and the nurses has been so welcoming to me and they literally bring me joy when I watch how much they care for their residents. Katie makes sure she brings live entertainment that makes the resident experience things the cant experience giving some of their inability to leave the facility. They had a Car show the other day and I was impressed with how they organized this for the residents to have a little outing in the facilities beautiful backyard and sitting area outside. I rate them a 5 because its clean, staff is great, activities in place, food looks so good, and their coordination of care with outside vendors is great. I love visiting places such as this with uplifting people who truly care about their resident like they are their family.

Seems to be out of everyone's favorite drinks. We are left with ginger ale and lemon lime a lot.

Fall 2021 Update: Another year has passed, and I feel it is important to provide a current assessment of my family's experience with this business. If you are exploring Yorkville IL area assisted living facilities, you are hopefully doing thorough research, including reading historical and current reviews. As I previously described, 2019 was a good experience for my Mom's move into this facility. Even our experience in 2020 was stable throughout all of the pandemic crisis, challenges, increased costs, isolation, and beginning of the labor issues. We are truly grateful that Cedarhurst, Illinois, and Kendall county restrictions kept our Mom alive. However, I have significantly lowered my rating. It may be a personal opinion, but I no longer see this facility as a member of our family. Staff shortages have been extreme, impacting basic services, the quality of food, and even our trust in what used to be a partnership. Each time our Mom and our family develops a positive relationship and experience with staff and management, attrition drives them away from Cedarhurst of Yorkville. It isn't fair for me to comment on the likely causes, but the most recent loss of another caring staff member has hit home deeply. Before entrusting your family member to this business, ask and get answers to hard questions, such as average length of staff employment, percent of attrition per month over the last two years, resident survey results on food appeal and quality, expected response times when activating an alert device, and a very clear list of service expectations and commitment. Especially before signing, personally interview as many staff and residents as possible. We all know that the pandemic has wreaked havoc on this industry, and from my point of view, this facility currently is exceptionally challenged. July 2020 Update: It has been a year since my first 5 star review, and I still hold Cedarhurst of Yorkville in such great regard. Especially through such a difficult 2020, Director Emily and her staff have kept the residents, employees and families safe from the pandemic. I can only imagine all of the challenges that have been addressed on a daily basis. Their care, compassion, communication, and ability to pivot when challenges arise make Cedarhurst of Yorkville a valuable part of our family. July 2019: As one of the first residents of Cedarhurst of Yorkville, we feel that our Mom is a member of a safe and genuinely caring community. When we visit, we are greeted by attentive and happy staff. The facility size and resources are a nice balance to create a hometown atmosphere. Keep up the good work, activities, and good food as the rest of the apartments are rented.

This place is beyond unorganized. I was hired on 3 weeks ago and never heard back from anyone. I had to call and ask about my position. After 3 weeks I finally spoke to a manager and she apologized to me multiple times because she was on vacation. I was asked to drive out to get my fingerprints done when I already told them I am in the healthcare system. As soon as I arrived a worker came out telling me sorry you don’t need fingerprints done. I then got dates for training and couldn’t attend a day due to baby sitter issues during the week when hired on I told them I can ONLY do weekends I also texted the manager a day before letting her know I couldn’t make it and her reply was she didn’t handle work on weekends. The manager told me she almost wasn’t going to move forward with my employment because I seem unreliable and asked me what I was hired for and asked if I was hired every weekend from 2-10…she hired me? She told me my schedule? she told me every other weekend from 6-2 and she then told me she would have to check if that shift was still available and she would let me know??! She then told me I can come in today at 8am for training but after everything I decided not to continue with this company and at 1pm finally realizing I didn’t make it to class at 8am she texted me letting me know she was no longer going to follow through with my employment and good luck..my response good luck to this company because you also did this to my friend and wonder why you have a horrible turn over rate. The communication is non existent with the management team. Completely unacceptable. Horrible communication. So best of luck to you guys because you lost yourself a great caregiver due to being unorganized and unprofessional.

Most people do not have serious problems after being vaccinated, according to the CDC. Your arm may be sore, red, or warm to the touch. Some people report getting a headache or fever, particularly after receiving the second dose. These side effects are a sign that your immune system is doing exactly what it is supposed to do. It is building up protection and immunity against the disease.

Is it better to get immunity from actually having COVID-19 than it is to get immunity from a vaccine?

Cedarhurst of Yorkville | Nov 5, 2021
Cedarhurst of Yorkville | Nov 5, 2021

No. The CDC says getting the COVID-19 vaccine is the safer choice. While still learning about the virus, the current advice is that COVID-19 has caused serious illness and death for many people and if you get it, you also risk giving it to your loved ones, who may also get very sick.

Do I need to provide my insurance card?

Cedarhurst of Yorkville | Nov 5, 2021
Cedarhurst of Yorkville | Nov 5, 2021

Will I still need to wear a mask after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine?

Cedarhurst of Yorkville | Nov 5, 2021
Cedarhurst of Yorkville | Nov 5, 2021

Yes. We must continue proper infection control measures, including wearing masks, practicing physical distancing, and hand hygiene. It is unclear how well the vaccines will curb the spread of the virus. The Pfizer and Moderna trials tracked only how many vaccinated people became sick with COVID-19. More research is needed to understand if vaccinated people can become infected without developing symptoms and, if so, whether or not those persons can silently transmit the virus to unvaccinated people.

How will the COVID-19 vaccine work?

Cedarhurst of Yorkville | Nov 5, 2021
Cedarhurst of Yorkville | Nov 5, 2021

As with any vaccine, the goal of a COVID-19 vaccine is to expose the body to an antigen that will not cause disease but will provoke an immune response that can block or kill the virus if a person becomes infected. After receiving a vaccine, a person develops immunity to that disease without having to get the disease. Some vaccines last a year (like the flu vaccine) and others last longer (like the polio vaccine). Current science suggests that the COVID-19 vaccine will be more like the flu vaccine requiring annual dosing, but research will be required to fully answer this question. Although we do not know how long the protection from either the vaccine or from having had COVID-19 will last, we know that that the vaccine is a strong step towards eradicating COVID-19.

Do I need to give consent in order to receive the COVID-19 vaccination?

Cedarhurst of Yorkville | Nov 5, 2021
Cedarhurst of Yorkville | Nov 5, 2021

Yes. When your community receives the appropriate state- approved consent form from the pharmacy that will administer the vaccination, the form will be provided to you or your Responsible Party for signature. Verbal consent may also be obtained for residents who DO NOT have physical or cognitive ability to consent. If a resident or his/her Responsible Party is able to provide written consent, written consent should be obtained. If consent is collected verbally, a community representative’s original signature is required in addition to that of a witness on the consent form. The verbal consent must also be documented in the resident’s medical record. Further, the community is authorizing the pharmacy to bill on behalf of the individual being vaccinated. The pharmacy may require the consent form prior to arriving at the community and before they administer the COVID-19 vaccine.

Will the vaccine prevent me from getting COVID-19?

Cedarhurst of Yorkville | Nov 5, 2021
Cedarhurst of Yorkville | Nov 5, 2021

Vaccines authorized for emergency use by the FDA have shown to substantially reduce your risk of getting COVID-19. If you are exposed and contract COVID-19 after being vaccinated, scientists believe that similar to other virus vaccines, your risk of serious complications will be substantially reduced. When vaccinated, you will help protect not only yourself, but also your friends, family and other members of your community. Both vaccines were tested in large clinical trials to make sure that they meet safety standards. Many people were recruited to participate in the trials, including people of different ages, races, and ethnicities.
