Library needs to be relocated due to heavy traffic flow off of Rt 59 and Lockport Street. Very hard to enter and exit this present location.....

It's a nice, cozy, small town feel type of a library. A few years ago, there were plans to expand the library to accommodate the growing population and needs of Plainfield, Illinois residents. Those plans got killed by the powers to be unfortunately. Now this "small town library" is actually in a big town with modern needs that it cannot serve adequately. Some examples: Extremely small selection of books available (of course you can request a book from another library and they'll get it for you but that will take few days) Not a lot of space available for kids nor adults to sit. Keep in mind that Plainfield population has been growing and now it's 45,000 + people. Very weak Wi-Fi connection. On average, it gives about 3 MB per second download. In the age of gig download speeds, this is very shameful. The structures and furniture has been the same since at least 15 years that I have been visiting this library and perhaps a lot longer before my time. All in all, it's a big opportunity wasted. A library right by downtown Plainfield should attract residents of all ages to come sit, read, socialize, and more. This is where the tax dollars should be going instead of other wasteful spending.
