We got our dog Mia from this shelter and they were so helpful, kind, and obviously love the animals. We love our baby! Thank you for helping us find someone perfect for our home. She may have lived on the streets but now she guards our chicken coop during the day and keeps our feet warm at night.

Very nice, helpful people! Every dog we looked at was extremely nice and taken care of. The labradoodle (right side of picture) we adopted has been nothing short of perfect!

Had to give a 1 star because it required but I do not recommend this shelter at all. Ive had family recieve a puppy with distemper from here as well as know for a fact that the shelter refused to return dogs to their owners despite the owners providing all proof of ownership, lied about why they couldn't return the dogs on a Saturday then Monday when they allowed the owners to pick up their dogs told them the female had been adopted out. Accused them of being backyard breeders because the female had recently had puppies despite not knowing anything about this dog or the owners . The shelter is shady. They don't actively seek owners for the animals they recieve and adopt out sick animals.

I adopted a dog named Thor from Athens animal rescue i returned Thor since he kept attacking me and i have a year old and it became a safety concern. The shelter said they understood showed them the marks and bruising from the dog. They recommend me to go here to look for a family dog and maybe even a dog train as a service animal i come here, talk to the people at the desk and let them know what’s going on they helped me look at 2 dogs. One of the dogs I really liked said she wasn’t up for adoption, so why show me her? Anyways I liked the other puppy as well and when i asked to look at him again the operation manger comes and talks to me telling me I have been flagged and will no longer be able to adopt. She said Thor wasn’t aggressive at the shelter but they euthanize him. And my home was not a safe environment for animals. She said my home is too loud since i have a toddler and was stressing the dog out. My house is almost 3k square feet with big rooms, my toddler stays mostly him mine or his room which is connected and Thor was always in the living room out ruining outside in the yard. They blamed me for Thor attacking us even tho the shelter recommended him for us knowing we have a 1.5 year old. Thor would leave your whole arm bruised from biting and even drew blood and it was something we couldn’t have around our baby. Everyone said they understood why we returned him so i really don’t know why we were flagged. Yes we tried to train him not to bite and i did everything I could. I can’t be the only one they have done something like this too (dog and bite marks and a little bruising in pictures below for proof)

How bug is he? My mother n law is wanting a small lap dog that is potty trained. We will take him for her. It would be a great Christmas for her
I don't know about the Kemp shelter, but the one in Tool is a no kill.
I dont work there so i cant say for sure...but i do know that the humane society has helped people in the past with dog food...
I have one you can have, its a one bedroom Dog house but you will have to bring two men to get it
If the shelter can't use them directly, they can offer them to the public in exchange for a donation. Take them up there!
I can't right now. Got several pets myself. Take her to Dr Jones in seven points. She's amazing. And she'll work with you
No its not mine.
Friends for the animals will help you with all their shots and sayed
I believe it is $50 each. I had to surrender my mother-in-laws' two dogs 14 & 15 yrs old, and it was $100.00
Kaufman county sheriff's office
Friends of the Animals will spay FERAL cats, across the street from Lowes in GBC. Very reasonable and they'll loan you a carrier with a deposit.
Your best bet is to offer them on a buy sell or trade site. The Humane society here does not have the no kill policy. Athens does. Goodluck
They humanely euthanize when absolutely necessary for safety, health, or space.
If there's room they'll take him. But, it's a $40 surrender fee if they take him. If he has a chip the owners will be notified and if not they'll try to find him a home. They try to keep animals as long as possible they even have rescues they send animals to. And will hopefully soon have the backing of the aspca.
Yes Kym, it costs a fee to surrender. Are you surrendering an adult or a baby? Dog or cat?
I would go in person
They give the shots to the dogs that you get from their facility the prices are in the adoption fee
Yes they do
Can I see a picture
Im homebound.I cannot take them in. Im terminal. In a chair with Oxygen. I recieve 500 a month disability. Total. So any suggestions??
Friends of Animals in Gun Barrel City has a low cost spay/ neuter program. They also have a low cost vaccination clinic once a month. Food - you are on your own.
Yes they do that pays for all their shots and neuter or spay.
No there is a $100.00 fee but that includes all shots and spay or nuter at friends of the animals. Easily covers a veterinarian would charge plus you are saving a fur baby.
Always, thank you
