If you just want to visit Denny Creek Slide, it is an easy trail for family. However after the slide, the journey is tough and trail is challenging.

Difficult but rewarding trail all the way to Melakwa Lake. The rock slide area is easy to get to, and great for families. The water is cold but perfect for a summer day!

Careful at the end toward the waterfall isn't really paved at the end to the waterfall, but the whole thing was gorgeous. Need like a national forest pass or whatever. Discover pass won't work

Don't know about the parking, but I remember purchasing the daypass at the trailhead
I don't remember the exact distance but it's around 8 or 9 miles. I don't know what the official rules are about the lake, but when I was there I saw plenty of people swimming and fishing.
