I went for two weeks for work to the City of Elgin in Chicago, Illinois and I had the misfortune to lose my passport, after searching for it so much without success I went to the local police to report it and then I went to the Dominican Consulate of Chicago. And I was surprised by the excellent treatment they gave me, I was already predisposed, already knowing with previous experiences what government institutions are like, but the Chicago consulate with the current administration has been the example of how a citizen should be treated. They helped me with a route letter to be able to return to the DR and they attended me quickly and efficiently, they were warm in their treatment as if we had known each other for years. It is gratifying that someone in trouble in a foreign country has a place to go to resolve and one feels confident and calm. And luckily for me, two weeks later in the DR, the consulate notified me by mail that my passport was recovered by the police and that they took it to the consulate. What happiness for me I did not expect. They sent me my passport to the DR. I thank and congratulate Vice-Consuls Yokasta Contreras, Eveling Tavarez and Consul Elias Brache for their excellent work and professional treatment of citizens. They should give a lecture to the public offices that are in the DR.
