The park is an amazing nesting ground for birds all year round. Multiple species can be seen with the naked eye. Across the river is a natural habitat for deer, rabbits and eagles. One of the most enjoyable things to do is to watch the squirrels. They keep busy playing hide and seek with the dogs whom enjoy their daily walks with outdoor neighbors.
Dad Rock
A great place to walk your dog. The trail wraps around the outer edge and is well maintained. There is a new restroom facility. Dogs are allowed off-leash but there is no fence.

There is a fun 9 hole Disc Golf course at Vander Yacht Park. This is a good long range course compared to what I'm use to playing. Great place to practice distance shots. Grass can be a little long and damp so I recommend boots.

I think it is 2/3rds of a mile
They had a porta potty there for a while but somebody kept vandalizing it thus they took it out. So to answer your question because of an few inconsiderate individuals the rest of us suffer with no porta potty and Vander yacht park.
