We hadn’t been to the Gelston House for some time and were delighted with our recent dinner. Food was delicious (Shrimp Scampi and Short Rib Sandwich) and service was attentive and accommodating. Pretty spot as well and a great place to enjoy sunset over the CT River.

I've been here before and was never impressed with the food but back in the area so thought we'd try it again. The outdoor patio is absolutely beautiful and overlooks the river and opera house. The good however is not good at all. I ordered the grilled cheese with short rib. I have no idea what type of cheese it was but it tasted horrible. It was not really grilled either. Don't remember what hubby ate but he said it was okay. I so much want to like this place. It's close to home and has beautiful scenery. They need to get someone better in the kitchen.

First class service, delicious, varied menu. Both inside and outside seating with views of the CT River. Staff was prompt and courteous. Great restaurant!!!

We sat on the patio and enjoyed drinks and the beautiful view. We decided to check Gelston House out because of the atrocious service across the street and we didn't regret it. Even though the hostess was slammed she was so nice and accommodating. I'd give this place 6 stars if I could.
