We had an absolutely spectacular experience at the Fort Flagler location with a private sunset tour for our 27th anniversary!!! We can't say enough good about it and would highly recommend it to all; folks with or without much kayaking experience! Some specifics are that Sam takes the safety and comfort of his clients very seriously; we spent a good chunk of time getting set up so that we were comfortable in the boat, comfortable in the water, and well prepared for getting in and out of the boat and everything in between. It was time well spent because then when the tour starts, you are well prepared and ready! We appreciated it in particular because we are new to kayaking and there is a lot to learn! Then the tour itself was simply wonderful!! We also saw lots of wildlife; many birds and seals as well as all kinds of sea creatures that live underneath docks! Sam was excellent at spotting everything, and pointing it out and filling us in on all kinds of information related to what we were seeing. We were very impressed with his knowledge as well as kayaking skills, and making it all a very fun and memorable experience! We also loved that he is very eco-conscious, at times hauling garbage out of the water and always being respectful of the animals and their surrounding environment. Sam really burns calories to be sure you have the experience you want, and you will be in very good hands if you head out on the water with him!! :-)

NOTE: This is for Sam's new business (Olympic Kayak Tours): Highly recommend. We took the 5-hr tour, which was a great length. Sam was knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. The equipment was solid and well-kept. Sam had a great eye for wildlife and kept us inspired and entertained with natural history information and kayaking stories. His tips on technique will improve my kayaking moving forward. The scenery was spectacular-- as we paddled we had a commanding view of Mt. Baker, Mt. Rainier, and Whidbey Island.

We had a phenomenal evening! The bioluminescence is indescribable. I took my son and Sam was very patient explaining things to him and discretely helping me due to my larger size. Thank you!

We booked a sunset and Bioluminesence tour with Sam and loved it! He’s very knowledgeable and fun while also conscientious! He knows the area so well and so much about the PNW wildlife. We are already looking for another opportunity to book with him. This was a great COVID safe activity!

Well it's not a lake, it's the Puget Sound. People can and do Paddle Board, but it's not for beginners in the same way a lake is. There are big tidal exchanges that produce strong currents that can pull you out into deeper water, and can also leave you stranded on the mud flats. It's also an important wildlife refuge and certain areas the public aren't allowed into to protect animals having their babies, so it's good to learn the rules from the https://www.fws.gov/refuge/billy_frank_jr_nisqually/ Billy Frank Jr Nisqually national wildlife refuge. So you CAN paddle board there, but it's not not like a lake. Good luck!
