What an amazing experience I had at the LaserVue Eye Center in Santa Rosa, Doctor Jay Bansal and his staff did an excellent job performing Refractive Lens Replacement surgery on both eyes, now I can see clearly without glasses. Dr. Bansal, much thanks to you, your professional staff and wonderful facility that made this all happen.

I just had both of my eyes fixed at LaserVue Eye Center, and it's been a life-altering experience! The facility itself is state-of-the-art and spotless, and everyone who works there is very friendly and attentive. Every person I interacted with there, incuding Dr. Bansal, the nurses, the receptionists, etc., was kind, knowledgeable, and caring. I had intraocular lens surgery (like cataract surgery) and had my lesenes replaced with multifocal lenses, which has completely fixed both my near and far vision challeneges. I went from 20/40 and 20/150 vision to 20/20 in both eyes amost overnight! It's pretty amazing! I'm beyond happy with the process and the results, and highly recommend LaserVue Eye Center. :-)

I wanted LASIK for many years and finally decided this year to pull the trigger. I used to wear contacts but I stopped wearing them for several years specifically because I wanted LASIK. I asked my regular optometrist from Costco about LASIK years ago. He said my prescription needed to be stable for several years if I was to be a candidate. At the time I wasn't stable. When I asked last year (2021), he finally told me that my prescription had been stable for the past three years and I could be a LASIK candidate. I had a co-worker who had a great experience with Dr. Bansal and recommended him. My coworker told me Dr. Bansal worked with Dr. Lanning in Eureka (where I reside) for LASIK referrals. I went to Dr. Lanning for screening, it took about an hour and he did an extensive job including pupil dilation. I was told it is critically important to screen clients who want LASIK as the risk of complications occur if clients aren't properly screened. I had mixed astigmatism with some farsightedness (if I recall correctly). Dr. Lanning I was an unusual case but I was within the parameters that LASIK could correct. Before the procedure I had about 20/50 vision (both eyes). Dr. Lanning told said I could probably expect to achieve 20/30 vision; I believe he was giving me a worst case scenario excluding complications. I think when it comes to LASIK, doctors try to undersell the possible results to better manage expectations. A few weeks after screening with Dr. Lanning, I went to Dr. Bansal, which was about a 6 hour drive for me. They could have gotten me the very next week if I wanted! However I wanted to schedule some time off from work. Also, during this time they gave me a prescription to get a couple of eye drops from the pharmacy. Steroids and antibiotics. They asked me to NOT use them but bring them with me to Dr. Bansal. And they asked me to get some natural tear eyedrops (no preservatives). I got 2 boxes (like 400 drop packets, they are one time use). I went in the early afternoon. I was in the office for about an hour. Before the procedure they did some more scans and gave me a little anxiety medication. I don't usually take any meds but they said its important that patients are calm. The actual procedure time was maybe 120 seconds total. About 30 seconds per eye to cut the flaps, which was done in one room. Then they walked me over to another room (which was interesting because everything was blurry), where they did the lasering. That also took about 30 seconds per eye. Dr. Bansal himself performed the procedure. He was very calm and assured, and I could tell from his tone that he was very experienced. It's the sort of tone someone has when the have done something thousands of times. Which is what you want. After that they recommended I not drive and rest. I rented a hotel room locally and stayed the night. They give you glasses that you need to sleep with to protect your eyes for the following 2-3 days. They also instructed me to use the eye drops I had picked up earlier from the pharmacy. Once during the morning and again at night. And I think some more in between but I forgot the exact schedule (maybe mid-day as well). Also to wait 15 minutes between the sets of drops. They ask you to use the drops for 5-6 days after the procedure. I used the natural tear eyedrops very, very liberally. I think the lubrication is very critical to having good results as it helps with healing. At first I was at about 20/30 vision and I had dry eyes. I was religious about using drops. My vision improved gradually over the course of about a month and the dry eyes stopped after about 1.5 months. I now have 20/20 vision and I can make out some of the 20/15 and 20/10 lines when I use both my eyes and squint. The procedure cost a little over $4,000, but this was the best money I have ever spent. I would do it again in a heartbeat if I needed to. Aftercare and eyedrops are essential too.
