We really appreciate the staff at Case Antiques and Auctions. They went above and beyond to authenticate a piece of artwork for our charity. They were wonderful to deal with and we highly recommend them for their professionalism and expertise.

As an international absentee bidder, I am extremely pleased with the way Case Antiques works and therefore I have no hesitation in recommending their services.

I bid on and purchased several large lots of dinnerware online. The transaction was easy, the merchandise was exactly as described, and Case had everything shipped to me. I would definitely do business with Case again.

I have a letter and signature in a frame from Nathaniel Bowditch and wanted to get an appraisal on it?
Thanks for your interest in our auction house, Meccia. Our focus is more on art and historical items. For collectibles, eBay is worth a try - it still does a good job of reaching much of the market.
Hi, Susan. We do not have a fall auction set in stone at this time, but we are actively receiving consignments and it is looking more and more like we will need to have one. I believe we will know if we will have a fall auction over the next 2 - 3 weeks. You are welcome to contact us about potential consignments at any time. Thanks for posting the question and feel free to post any other questions or give us a call. Thank you!
Hi Lisa, we offer complementary auction estimates on items we accept for auction and charge an hourly rate on items we appraise for insurance, estate or tax purposes. The best way to start is by emailing or texting us a photo of your item, along with your contact information and purpose of valuation. We'll be happy to respond with an auction estimate or an estimate of the cost of our appraisal services depending on your needs.
Hi Glenn, The furniture market is tough right now with everyone downsizing. In general, furniture needs to be handmade and around or before the civil war era before mass production began to do well at auction. If you still have the items and still want to sell them, you can send us a couple of photos here - https://caseantiques.com/photos/ - and we'll take a look to determine value. If they aren't enough value for an auction lot, furniture is probably best sold via estate sale, garage sale, Craigslist, or Facebook marketplace. Thanks for posting the question!
Hi Terry, Some of the lanterns do pretty well at auction. If they are something you want to consign for auction, please send us a couple of photos including a closeup of any makers marks here - https://caseantiques.com/photos/ - and we'll take a look to determine if it will sell for enough to make a lot at auction. Our threshold is around $400-500 on the low end. We would be happy to take a closer look for you. Thanks for posting!
Hi Linda, Sorry for the delay in answering. It appears Gorman prints range from $150 to as high as $450. If it is something you want to consign for auction, please send us a couple of photos including a closeup of the signature here - https://caseantiques.com/photos/ - and we'll take a look to determine if it will sell for enough to make a lot at auction. Our threshold is around $400-500 on the low end, so it is likely just below our price point, but we would be happy to take a closer look for you. Thanks for posting the question!
We generally do auction reviews versus appraisals since we are primarily an auction company. Before paying for an appraisal, which can get expensive at common rates from $75 - $125 per hour, you may want to search for similar items on LiveAuctioneers.com. It is a huge database of sold items if you sign up (free sign-up). Sign-up, login, and search by keyword, then click the button that says "Price Results" and you can look for similar items and their recent prices. If you do need a written appraisal for insurance purposes of similar, call us and we'll provide a couple of folks that can probably help.
Our next auction is April 27th. Please see the link to our website for more information: https://caseantiques.com/
Case provides a range of valuation services, from auction estimates to USPAP-compliant written appraisals for tax purposes. In all cases, it's best to start by emailing us photos. If you have a few items you are legitimately interested in potentially consigning to one of our auctions, and can email us good photos, we usually provide complimentary auction estimates - as long as it's something we can accept for auction. Sometimes there are so many items (such as in an estate situation) that a personal appointment at your home or one of our 3 Tennessee offices is in order. For this, there may be a fee based on how many hours we spend with you or how far we have to travel. If you need a formal written appraisal for more complex legal or financial purposes, these are performed at a standard hourly rate. We are always happy to give you an estimate of our fees before any valuation takes place, and often there is no charge at all, so we encourage you to email or call for further information.
They will either set you an appointment to see what you have,. Or you can take good pictures and describe it to them. Best to do in person and they won't charge you an appraisal fee they consign for customers if your selling. If your not selling they might charge you. Goodluck
Yes you can talk to Anne there she has been helping me with my chairs but your clock will be of interest to her I'm sure.
Gary, Thanks for your question. Commission rates depend on several factors including what type of items, the condition of the items, and the overall estimated value of the entire consignment. The best thing to do is call us so we can ask a few questions and provide an accurate commission rate. 865-558-3033.
Hi Stephanie, We avoid reserves except on very expensive items ($10,000 and up) because reserves have to be announced at the auction and having a reserve usually curtails bidding substantially. We do, however, always start the bidding at half the low estimate on an item which is effectively a reserve since we won't take a bid below that amount. Example: If we estimate a Tiffany Lamp at $2000 - $2500 bidding will start at $1000 and we would not accept a bid for $950 or $975, it would have to be $1000 or higher. Call us and we'll be happy to discuss your item(s) and the process for selling at auction and answer any other questions. 865-558-3033. Thank you!
