When my brother came out from Ohio to visit and he's ex-Navy seal. We took our him and our son to go check out this Free museum. There is great volunteers that explain everything, a giftshop and a little store about 1/2 mile drive away that makes the best pissa and milkshakes.

This is a definite “guy” place. Interesting exhibit of WWII and other undersea weapons including submarines, torpedoes, comm systems and charts of the oceans. One display of tectonic plates was most informative. Figure on two hours for a cursory “walk through” we spent most of an afternoon there and didn’t see everything. Well worth the trip. Many thanks to knowledgeable docents

Yes a definite WOW! The displays were amazing. It was a fabulous day. We will definitely be back.

This museum is a great place to visit if you have any interest in things submarine. The exhibits are fascinating and informative. Just the section on torpedoes is worth the visit. It will take you about 2 hours to see everything. And it's free to visit.

There's a ton of info, so if you really read and examine each part a couple hours would work. At the same time it's not a gigantic museum and if you look at the artifact and read a little bit about it, but not the surrounding panels, an hour superficial view could happen too. Enjoy it, we thought it was great and spent about 2 hours.
Hi Harvey, yes, we are open Wednesday-Monday (closed Tuesdays) from 10 AM to 4 PM. Masks are not required at present based on current DOD and CDC guidelines. That policy is subject to change if COVID-19 cases increase and the CDC COVID-19 Community Level for Kitsap County changes. We will update our website if the policy changes: www.navalunderseamuseum.org.
Hi Jeremy! The museum is all above ground! The Navy calls it’s subsurface operations “undersea,” thus the name of the museum. Undersea operations include submarines, diving, weapons, salvage, and special ops, among other programs. The museum highlights these areas with exhibits, artifacts, and education programs. The museum is temporarily closed.
Hi Sherrie! We should have some information to share about a reopening date in the coming days. We will update our information on Google, our website, and social media when we have news. Thank you for checking in!
Hi Doris! The phone number in the store is 360-697-1537.
No unfortunately
Hi Glenn! Our store manager just removed from the store the one energy bar she was carrying that contained cornstarch and corn syrup. We have no other items in the museum store or in the exhibits that contain corn. However, we cannot control what snacks our visitors might carry into the museum with them (although visitors are not permitted to eat in the museum). Our basement has meeting rooms where participants *may* have foods that contain corn or corn substances. If you are able to let us know what day you are thinking of visiting, we can check our reservation schedule to determine if there will be meetings taking place so we can rule out that potential risk, and we can inform staff to leave corn items at home that day. Best wishes, Mary (360-396-5812)
There is a children's area with toys, books and they can even dress up as military personnel.
