The food was breakfast we had was fine, but probably the worst service I've ever had.  When we entered, the "seat yourself" sign was up so we seated ourselves.  Our waitress  walked by our table multiple times and didn't acknowledge that we were seated in her section.  Eventually, a member of our party had to go to the checkout station to get menus since our waitress wasn't interested in our table.  As soon as the menus were passed around the waitress showed up and asked us if we were ready to order and seemed upset that we needed more than one  minute to look at the menus.  When we were finished with our meals, the waitress again seemed to disappear.  Our party needed to attend a meeting, so we made our way to the register to see if we could get our tickets and pay.  The staff working at the register was accommodating and went to find our tickets.  Just then, the waitress appeared and told us that next time we needed to wait to be seated.  When we explained that the sign said "seat yourself" she proceeded to tell us that we were being rude to the other guests that were waiting (there weren't any, apparently everyone else in Ames avoids this place).  Maybe the rudest waitress I’ve ever experienced.

Second trip here this week, and yum, yum — today is free slice of pie day! Both trips our meals have been served quickly and the food is hot. Good visits.
